Today is a holiday in the US.  The hub may not be open to accept deliveries on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

This would have been my answer. All of my packages to the eBay International Shipping hub in Glendale Heights, IL have failed delivery attempts if USPS attempts to deliver on a Saturday. They are always successfully delivered on Monday.

As suggested by PJ, since today is a holiday, I would expect the package to be delivered to the hub tomorrow.

Does it? USPS was also closed* for the last 2 days, so why did they lie about attempted deliveries for those days?

*except for Express and Amazon deliveries, and etc.
