cost of different shipping options

When considering how to ship a heavy item, I want to know what different shipping options will cost my buyer, or me, if I offer free shipping. Do I have to visit all the shipping sites, UPS, FedEx, USPS Ground etc? Or will ebay show me that somewhere?  Thank you for your help.

also, how do I offer free shipping to the lower 48 but charge for anywhere else? thanks again.

You can use the eBay shipping calculator. Note that it has options to show either the retail ("in store") price or the online ("eBay") rate.

Since you are on the east cost, shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, PR and US territories  will cost the same as to California if you ship via USPS. Otherwise, you can set up shipping tables to enter a surcharge for selected destinations.
