Package the item carefully and simulate how it would be if you shipped it, noting very carefully the weight and dimensions. The only thing you wouldn't do is close the box and put a label on it. I do this on ALL of my auctions as it gives the most accurate estimation of cost and there are no surprises when you go to ship.
Then go into your listing and change the package dimensions and weight to match the simulated shipment that you just created. You can do this as long there are at least 12 hours left or the item does not have bids.

I think you can change your listing whatever you want.

My listing has just less than 12 hours left. That was the key. Thank you. I'll change the dimensions when it auto-relists.

And, my item was re-listed, and I was able to change package dimensions (added 1/2" for outer packaging), and added 8 oz for outer packaging weight. Now, I've got 3 shipping methods to choose from, and shipping prices are MUCH more reasonable.
Thanks for your help.
