I haven't been having a lot of luck selling dishes. Mostly I've listed them as 4 plates or bowls. Guess I'll try single items, some have told me they can be of more interest. I have boxes that would be OK for bowls but not for single plates. What size boxes do you use? thanks

I've sold a few single plates and I just make the boxes for them.

For single plates, I use a priority mail box -- one of those that is about 14 inches long, 12 inches wide and 3 inches tall. If the plate is 11" across or less, I might trim off the excess on the 14 inch side to save a little on shipping.
Otherwise I will take a 13x13x10 cardboard box and trim it to 13x13x4.
I've seen 12x12x4 inch boxes for sale online.

I would not have thought of that. thanks.

Yes I've found it economical to repurpose old boxes. I can usually make a more secure box than I can buy somewhere. Especially for fragile items.

The question I wonder is whether one can make enough for a single dish to bother and store. I know it depends on the pattern. Also how long does it take for them to sell? Impossible to predict I am sure. I found auctioning is not the way to go which was disappointing because I hoped to price modestly and move them out.

12x12x4 is a common box size and good for dinner plates, but probably a bit too big for a luncheon/dessert plate.
