sick and tired of sellers who print a label, mark an item shipped then take DAYS to get the item to the shipping company. ebay needs to crack down on this! it is NOT shipped until it is in the possession of the shipping company. I paid for 2 items 5 days ago from 2 different sellers. both were marked shipped the next day with the tracking saying label created. items were both guaranteed delivered tomorrow. both tracking numbers still says usps awaiting item. sellers need to be penalized when they can't ship the item out in a timely manner. especially with guaranteed delivery dates. I know they can't control what happens once the shipper has POSSESSION of the item. but getting it to the shipper in a timely manner is the responsibility of the seller.

Lately, about 50% of my shipments are not getting their scanning updated in a timely manner by the PO. Meaning, I take the packages to the PO, but for a few days, it still only says Label Created awaiting item. Then a few days later, suddenly the tracking is updated all in one shot and shown as "Delivered". So maybe that is what is happening in your case.

It is not the seller that marks the item as shipped. It is ebay, done automatically as soon as the seller creates the label.
You do not know for a fact that your item hasn't been mailed. It could be that the seller's PO is short handed and is skipping acceptance scans to save time. It could also be that the seller can't get to the PO as often as he'd like due to the covid19 lockdown.
You still have the ebay MBG to fall back on if your item doesn't arrive.

I see this so often while I am standing in line to get my packages scanned while I watch the clerk do it and then leave with a receipt from them THAT is the ONLY way to get your Acceptance scans every time and I see that as the Seller's responsibility.
I see a lot of Seller dash in and drop or literally throw their packages on the pre-printed label lane and leave. Some clerks if they are short on time at the end of the day just throw them on the bulk truck and rely on the bulk center to scan them there on their automated system.

Just as oldtown stated. I bought 6 items early last week. 1 was tracked the whole way 5 had no acceptance scan but was scanned today as out for delivery. Don't worry about the little things in life. As also stated you always have eBay's MBG and you are covered with PP if that is the way you paid.

@tommysnuggles I agree with you and if you have the time you should complain to eBay that they need to SHOW the Seller's "Handling time" clearly on the listing. Delivery is calculated by the combination of the shipping method selected, the Seller's Handling time AND their track record for getting things out when they say they will. A Seller can do exactly what you said they do if their Handling time is like 3 days ... they can print the label and mark it shipped but really don't have to ship until the 3rd day and still NOT get a late shipping defect. I don't buy a lot on eBay but when I do I take a hard look at the "estimated" delivery of a prospective Seller to see if they ship quickly or not ... as a Seller I pretty much know how long it should take to get from point A to point B here in the US ...
While I understand that the Covid-19 Pandemic from China has caused some delays your post makes it sound like you have seen this issue long before that ever happened right?

I think the wording on the message/email needs to be changed. When I print a label it should say that, not the item was shipped. I can print a label on Sunday but it isn't shipped until Monday.
Btw eBay words the message, not the seller. We don't makr it as shipped, eBay does.

Just FYI, I had this happen last week on items that I took to the window to scan and get a receipt. I had 8 packages, and 6 showed the scan except for 2 that did not until a few days later. I think because they were Media Mail, so maybe those are handled differently? Not sure.

these items were GUARANTEED delivery by tomorrow. that is why I purchased from these two sellers. otherwise, I would have bought from other sellers. sometimes the shipping timeframe is the deciding factor on who I purchase an item from. if a seller can't get the item to the shipper in a timely manner, they should not be guaranteeing a delivery date. the problem is that sellers will promise you the moon, then tell you to go catch it once they have your money.
the world has gone full retard. too many are using covid-19 as an excuse for everything. most need to get off their butts and do their jobs. if you are scared, hide under your bed. but don't take other people's money then hide under your bed.

yes, this is not a new problem at all. it happens all the time. when I sell something, it goes out same day if at all possible. next day at the latest. sundays excluded of course. I treat people the way I hope to be treated. no one will EVER accuse me of being a slow shipper.

If you're insisting on an instant gratification purchase, then ordering online at this time is NOT for you. Every state, every person is having to accept the facts that mail is slow, shipping volume is way up, many sorting centers have a bottle neck as certain states or countries have halted incoming packages. This is not all about your package.
Most sellers are doing the best we can.
The post office is doing what they can.
Are you doing all you can?

It's Ebay that set's the guaranteed delivery date and not the seller.

I understand that the post office is overwhelmed at the moment. it is not the post office that I am complaining about. it is sellers FAILING to get things to the post office in a timely manner. if you can't get things out in a timely manner, note that in your handling time. it's that simple...really, it is.
it is always better to under promise and over deliver
04-27-2020 08:27 PM
ok. is ebay pulling that number out of thin air? or are they basing it on the seller's published handling time added to the shipper's delivery time? doesn't it still come back to handling time being the first part of the equation?
I understand that seller's can't control a shipper's transit time. but they can control their own handling time in most cases.
