Will my shipping decision cost me my first negative?

Sold a $45.00 imported toy on June 11th (night), and first thing in the morning (12th), I got it ready for shipping. Due to the size, I had FedEx ground as my original option, but when I when to print the label, I noticed, Priority Mail was a close to the same price, and would get to the buyer faster. Originally, when I did the calculations,  the pricing was different, making the FedEx option look cheaper. So, I switch it over to Priority Mail, and notify the buyer I was doing so, that way he/she would be able to get it sooner hopefully. I didn't get a response, but not all buyers respond to your actions, so no big deal.

Just my luck, it turns out, the Priority Mail is now over a week in transit. The last scan was yesterday still showing "in transit to next facility).  I notified the buyer again (after the 5th day) to let them know I am on top of it,  monitoring the package, and apologized for the delay. No response to that yet.. but once again, it's not  like I'm asking a question that I expect them to reply to.  The post office site mentions possible delays due to Covid, but they're talking like a day or two beyond the normal 2-3 day Priority Mail average.

The buyer has a 0 feedback (which really doesn't mean anything but thought I mention it). If by chance, they leave negative feedback due to my decision to change the shipping method, do you think eBay would remove it, despite my good intention?

Frankly, I would probably consider the switch from FedEx Ground to Priority Mail an upgrade and wouldn't expect the buyer object.  Of course, owing to the pandemic and other current situations there have been resulting delays.  Hopefully, your buyer will understand.

After taking a look at some of your item listings, I'm not sure why you would want to offer FedEx Ground shipping.  First Class or Priority Mail would seem to be a better option anyway.

If the buyers feedback looks like they are rating the shipping service, there is a very good chance ebay will remove it.  You have to contact customer support for that.

@tronix

Well, eBay doesn't consider our intentions... dang it.

With that being said, I'm afraid you could even be open to an INAD, although I consider USPS Priority to be an upgrade over FedEx Ground. I would hope that your buyer would, too.

You've provided good customer service... don' fret the non-response. I'd not worry. Good luck!

I seem to recall Trinton saying at some point that not using the specified carrier was NOT grounds for a SNAD, but then again policies are so "fluid" around here, who knows.
