Besides the hellacious things you can see them doing with packages in Youtube videos, even at their best they suck, and would-be buyers know it. Anytime I have a choice I buy from the seller who doesn't use them, even if it means spending considerably more money.
Here's why: they USUALLY, and by that I mean almost always, over-promise on the delivery date, by at least one day. Now here's why that is so much more problematic than when USPS does it: because the USPS carrier is the only one who can legally put anything in your mailbox, where it is out of sight to porch pirates. So this means on the day a FedEx package is scheduled, you have to basically be checking all day. Oh AND they deliver up to 8 PM, apparently. Only THEN does the status change to say "Welp, guess not." Mine isn't even giving a date anymore.
And yes I'm signed up for the notifications. I don't receive them. Because FED EX!

I have a strong aversion to FedEx. No arguments there. So many issues with them.
But I do not have this problem you described:
>> And yes I'm signed up for the notifications. I don't receive them.
I get emails all the time about incoming packages because I'm signed up for FedEx Delivery Manager. Here's one from today:
The package was delivered at 2:07 pm so the estimate was pretty close.
Amazingly, the package was delivered to me and not to a neighbor down the block as often happens with FedEx. The current driver on my route is better than previous drivers. *knock wood*

Yeah I even checked and rechecked the email on file. I would prefer to get SMS text messages anyway, but the only way to receive those is if you download the app, and eff that.
This seller is the only one I regularly guy from who uses FedEx. -It's the outfit that buys liquidation from EIS, so I'm sure they get a cozy deal with FedEx for being so 'big' (22,000 listings, last I checked). I guess I could write next time and ask if I could possibly get USPS instead, wouldn't hurt to try at least.

Log in to FedEx and go to the FedEx Delivery Manager settings. I'm pretty sure you can add X number of names to the list (5?).
For example, you can add John Smith and J Smith and JS and John E Smith
If your incoming packages have any variance in the ship to name from what's currently on your Delivery Manager settings then you won't get messages for them.
It's different from USPS and UPS where you get alerts for anything coming to that address. With FedEx you have to specify a list of recipients at that address.
Also check your email settings when you log in for good measure.

I appreciate the suggestions but it's easier to just log in to their website. -That's if I'm going to sit down and log into anything (website or my email). Like I said it would be better to get SMS notifications; then if I'm in the kitchen or something I would hear it and know immediately if the item was out on my porch.
They are really such a pain I just prefer to avoid them as much as possible. The point of my post was that any seller who thinks it's a good idea to use them, like if it saves them __ cents or whatever on shipping, it might be costing them whole sales.
