Why don't sellers take returns

I bought something on eBay last week and it was the wrong thing.  The seller did not know the color of the Vera Bradley pattern and all they knew were the dimensions and they were also wrong.   now I am stuck with the product because the seller doesn't take returns.  i have e-mailed her twice and got the same answer both times.

In my opinion, when they don't do returns they are trying to make a quick buck and also get rid of the product.

So, you chose not to read eBay's MONEY BACK GUARANTEE to find out exactly what to do when you don't get the item you paid for?

Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.

Are you saying that you asked the seller what the color was and they didn't know, but you bought it anyway?  Why would you do that?

@chil5847

Weren't there any pictures for you the buyer to look at?

Are you saying the seller sent something other than what was in the listing?

No, she didn't see me anything but what was in the listing, but she had no idea of what it was. She was selling it for her daughter. I guess she thought all laptops are the same, wrong. She did have dimensions but they were clear way at the bottom. I guess that will teach me. It was for a mini laptop, not a regular one. Make we think about buying anything else off of her. If she would put a mini laptop I wouldn't have bought it. You know how pictures can be deceiving.

"She did have dimensions but they were clear way at the bottom."

Then this is on you. Sorry, but the info was there. It is not the sellers fault you didn't read it.

"You know how pictures can be deceiving"

Yep and that is exactly why you should have the read EVERYTHING.

IMO you have no complaint at all.

It doesn't matter if the description is "way at the bottom" or anywhere else. It's up to you to read it. Pictures are only deceiving when you want them to be. Its easy to "google it". If you want easy returns go to Costco.

I'm sorry this happened, but I have to agree with the other responders. Perhaps the seller didn't do a great job making it clear what you were buying, but as a buyer it's your responsibility to do your due diligence in reading the complete description, among other things.

I commend your effort in asking the seller questions, but if you get vague, evasive responses such as she gave, that's a red flag telling you to keep shopping. It's a sign the seller is either:

  1. Deliberately acting deceptively
  2. Doesn't have sufficient knowledge about the item, OR
  3. Doesn't care enough about the transaction to respond helpfully

Hopefully, you can resell the item, and recoup your loss. Best of luck in your future eBay experiences!
