Why I am being chargd so much to ship a postcard?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Sold an antique postcard to someone in Korea. I am being charged $12.00 for shipping. I assumed eBay had cheaper rates for shipping postcards, stamps, coins, etc. Why am I being charged so much? It costs $1.40 to send a first class letter to Europe. The category of this postcard is Collectible postcards.

Since you are in Sri Lanka you can't use eBay calculated shipping because the shipping rates are calculated from a US zip code to the buyer`s location. You therefore have to offer free shipping or a flat rate shipping cost.  I don't see any items you've sold but you are the one that buys postage at Sri Lanka post or shipping by a method or carrier YOU have chosen. What is the item number?

You would have to ask at your post office, I have no idea of the shipping charges in Sri Lanka.

I can not see any of your items, are you set up to sell internationally?

A First Class letter is not the same as a business transaction with tangible merchandise.  No Post Office in the world cares if a letter gets there or not, no amount of money is at stake. International packages require tracking making it more expensive.  It has more scans, more workers and customs agents to pay.
