Hi @Anonymous, it seems eBay still overlooks the delivery city/zip during their review. Isn't software already assisting with the tracking vs shipping address? It shouldn't be necessary to resort to an appeal for such a simple discrepancy.

happy to confirm that we do review the delivery city/zip and even if the tracking shows delivered, we will be able to provide a refund if the delivery confirmation is for a different address than the one provided on eBay. Opening an item not received request is your best course of action and if for some reason we miss the delivery location in our review, you can appeal to have this resolved.

Hi @ma-647837, I apologize but I believe that there has been a misunderstanding here - the OP's situation was reviewed by a member of Customer Service. If a mistake was made, this would be reviewed through an appeal. While I understand and agree that the ideal situation would be that an appeal is not needed, mistakes can happen and this is the purpose of an appeal. A buyer is protected if the item is not delivered to the address they submitted during checkout, and if this does not happen in the original case, then we can ensure this happens via an appeal.

I want to add that the shipping location the buyer provides at checkout is compared to the address the tracking from an integrated carrier shows delivery to, and if there is a discrepancy and we are asked to step in, a member of Customer Service will always be prompted to review the details. If you see a situation where someone describes not receiving protection for an item not received request when the tracking shows delivery elsewhere, you can recommend they contact Customer Service for an appeal. Again, I understand that you feel an appeal should not be needed, and I would say that this is the entire purpose of the appeal process; if everything goes as it should, there would be no need for an appeal. Since human beings review situations like this, and human beings can make mistakes, there will sometimes be situations where an appeal is the appropriate next step to correct an error.

Your seller was tricked to send your iPhone to a totally different address @talapai, but a human who makes mistakes at eBay missed that that's the wrong address after you started a refund request, and they closed your case without a refund.

If you contact eBay by phone or social media to start an appeal:

eBay will pay you the $240 themselves after realizing their mistake.

If  you paid with PayPal and open, then immediately escalate, an Item Not Received Dispute:

PayPal will force your seller to pay the $240 since delivered tracking does not match your shipping address.

If you paid with a credit card, and file a chargeback for Goods Not Received with your card issuer:

Your seller will pay the $240 plus a $20 chargeback settlement fee.
