Our eBay Store sells quite a few vintage camera manuals for a variety of 35mm cameras etc. Usually the manual in a package weight 3-6 ounces and ships USPS First Class for $3.19 or slightly more. We tried to list a very small manual that weighs in a package 3 ounces and the new Shipping Calculator reported $4.75 for USPS First Class. Please advise what is going on. We can imagine what a 15 ounce package would cost. These postal prices will put a lot of eBay Sellers who sell small items and ship USPS First Class out of business. Let's hear from the eBay Community.

As far as I know there is nothing wrong with the calculator. For a 3 oz package, the usps first class package retail rate to your own zip code is $4.50 so I'm not sure why it would show you 4.75. Is it possible that you have a small handling fee?
The commercial/ebay rate is about $3.37. Your listings might be set to the retail rate which many sellers use as a way for recouping the ebay fees on shipping.

$4.75 is the correct RETAIL postage cost to ship a 3-ounce First Class package to Zone 6.
The ONLINE cost to ship a 3-ounce First Class package to Zone 6 would be $3.58. At current rates, the cheapest online rate for a First Class package (i.e., to Zone 1&2) would be $3.37.
The only rate that would be $3.19 would be for Media Mail; your manuals would be eligible to go that way, according to this chart set up by USPS:

I looked at one of your manuals that offered shipping of $3.19 media mail, but it is in a category that ebay will no longer provide the ability to print a media label. You will have to either print a 1st class label on ebay or print/buy a media mail label elsewhere.
