Im shipping a 12 x 12 x 16 box thats 3lbs 12 oz but it seems that none of the usps options have a box this big. What shipping options can i use? I would prefer usps because they pick up the box from my house for free.

12 by 12 by 16 equals 2304 cubic inches: divide by 166 give your weight at 13.879 and more: so that would be the weight of the shipping you would have to calculate cost for.
Dim weight is what this will go by: not actual..

Sorry i have no idea what you are talking about. I just want to know which shipping option works with the size and weight of the box i want to ship.

You can ship a package with that weight and package size using USPS Standard Post (Economy), or Priority (Expedited). If you choose calculated shipping and enter the method the shipping cost will be automatically calculated from your zip code to the buyer's zip code. You have no need to know in advance what to charge. eBay will charge the buyer based on the method or methods you offer. I would offer both methods and let the buyer choose which shipping method suits them.

FORGOT TO ADD
USPS free priority mail boxes are for regular size packages but you can use any box you want, including taping two PM boxes together to extend the box size to fit the item. You will be charged DIM weight if you do that.

You can use regular Priority Mail for that box.
Or you can use ground shipping, either Retail Ground or the online equivalent which is called Parcel Select Ground. But the savings is very small and ground shipping can take a lot longer.
The complicated answer which referred to "dimensional weight" was talking about the formula that USPS applies to packages that are bigger than 12x12x12. The formula says that your box will ship at the 14-pound rate, not at the 4-pound rate. If you can use a smaller box, you can save on postage.

If the box size and weight was in the listing when you made it, and if buyers are paying shipping, it would have shown your shipping options and price for buyers to see. Going to USPS, it would be a large box and you could calculate shipping cost to cover if free shipping. Using a zip code that is the longest distance domestic shipping that the item would travel. Shipping might be between $52-63 from west coast to east coast depending on level of service for a box that size. If the item is the bunny mask, you way under estimated the shipping at $12. While you may still take a hit on shipping, if it can fit in a box that is less then 1728 cubic inches that cost will go down. I would also suggest looking at other levels of service, Retail Ground is so slow and often not that much difference in cost. Unless you are adding something to the item selling cost up front to cover part of the shipping, you might want to use calculate shipping by where it is going rather then a set shipping cost.

All shippers, USPS, UPS, FEDEX, go off of dimensional weight. Regardless of who you ship with, you'll have to be aware of it.
USPS = LxWxD / 166
UPS = LxWxD / 166
Fedex = LxWxD / 139
You will need to plug in the weight that this formula spits out (Rounded UP) NOT 4lbs.
So USPS and UPS would be 14lbs as stated by @donsdetour
Fedex would be 17lbs

I assume it's your Bioshock. USPS will deliver a package that size... but you'll pay more than $12, which is what you've listed.
When you go in to print your label, enter your L, W, H and round up to 4#, then use 'Large Package'. Good luck.
Afterthought... I hope you're shipping that carefully packaged inside another box. Use lbs./dimensions of your outer box.

At the top of the Shipping Page, you click either 'Custom Package' or 'Carrier Package';
Be sure to pick 'Custom Package'; then input the weight and size
Right below there will be 3 options shown, and right below that you can click 'Show More' and it will drop down showing all options, with costs to the right, of each option.
As others have stated, once you do all this, you will choose 'Priority' (and none of the flat rates, if they show)

They would have to be non-flat rate priority mailing boxes. Don't try taping two flat rate boxes together and shipping Priority non-flat rate. The bar code printed on the box tells the level of service the box if made for. The bar code on the label, where it is going etc.

Why didn't you ask this BEFORE you sold the item?

This always comes to my mind, too... but I remember being a 'newbie'. Shipping 101 was waaaay harder than even MP 301.

If it's the Bioshock: that item was listed with USPS shipping. Before you switch to UPS, you need to check with your buyer to see if that's OK with them.
As noted in other posts, UPS shipping cost will be related to package dimensions so be sure to enter them accurately.
