So I recently sold an expensive item over $500 on eBay. Unfortunately I did not insure the item properly. I shipped the item to the buyers Verified PayPal address today and it was stuck on “out for delivery “ all day. I attempted to contact the buyers home post office but their number is literally disconnected so I contacted the main 1 800 number. They informed me the item had an insufficient address and was being returned to me. I created a research investigation on the address and the Usps rep informed me the carrier should have delivered the package and the address probably was real. She said I could contact the buyer and tell them to go to the post office tomorrow.
Here is my concern. I did not properly insure the package (my fault). The tracking is now already showing it is coming back me. If I contact the buyer and they go get the package will the tracking change and show delivered??? I don’t want to be uninsured and it say not delivered or coming back to me and it never arrives. Or do I just let the package come back to me and refund? On another note I find it odd that the buyer has not tried to contact me at all? Thanks for your input

If the post office worker does their job, yes it will show delivered when the buyer picks it up.
