This may be off topic, but I'd just like to hear if anyone else has experienced this...

I ordered something for myself, had it shipped Priority Mail. The estimated delivery date is 4/13.

When I tracked it on usps website, it showed that as of 4/11 it had already arrived in my local sorting office...the next step would be to arrive in my local post office to be delivered, or that's usually how it would go.

This morning, 4/12, I check again, and it has left my local sorting office, and was sent to Newark, NJ, and is now in transit from Newark, NJ back to the sorting office in Orlando where it just left from!

This makes no sense. Are they not allowed to deliver Priority Mail prior to the estimated delivery date now?

Has this happened to anyone else?

It was probably put on the wrong truck.

I feel your pain - same here to a degree. It must be something going on in New Jersey. The updates are truly sloooooooooowwww - I'm waiting for a pkg too. One that should have been delivered Monday (got it Tuesday) and the next one is alleged to be delivered Saturday, but I suspect it will be Monday/Tuesday. It hasn't taken the scenic route yet 😉 Just left CT from NYC to get to NJ 😞

I purchased something from a seller and on the day it was due to arrive she contacted me and told me it had been returned to her and would have to reship. Sounds like what is happening with you!

Actually, the maddening thing is..the package was sent from Atlanta, and I am in Florida...
Package arrived in Orlando 4/11 at the sorting office, and then was to come to me, but now it left Orlando and went to NJ, and is currently in transit back to Orlando... that's what I can't understand...

YES! I have had this same thing happen quite frequently. Very frustrating.

Based on discussions with my locall postmaster, it seems they sometimes have issues with their automated sorting equipment.

Every time it happens I go to the USPS webpage and fill out their online customer service complaint form or lost mail form in an effort to bring tthis to their attention. If they do not know about it (and feel some pain - i.e. need to process paperwork) they will never fix it.
