Did you mean:

What in tarnation are they talking about?!?

Dear James,

Your account has active listings that offer USPS Media Mail as a shipping service option in categories that aren’t eligible for Media Mail under USPS rules. In addition,eBay Labels does not support shipping label printing for Media Mail in these categories.

In order to prevent buyers from selecting Media Mail for listings that aren’t eligible for the service, we recommend you update your active listings to remove Media Mail as a shipping service option for items in those categories. For new listings in those categories, Media Mail won’t be an available shipping service.

Below is a summary of the top categories in which you have the most active listings. Please note that you may have active listings in additional categories:
Category ID:176985
Number of listings:  1147
Category Name:MUSIC:VINYL RECORDS
Category ID:261186
Number of listings:  12
Category Name:BOOKS & MAGAZINES:BOOKS
If you believe a particular category should be eligible for Media Mail support via eBay Labels, please provide details in this short survey.

Re: What in tarnation are they talking about?!?

WHY was my thread changed from SELLING platform to SHIPPING platform???

This affects selling as much as it does shipping and there was already an effn thread started around the same time on the same subject?

I wanted opinions from those on the SELLING PLATFORM!>!>!>!>

The books I have listed, should all qualify.

Good news. If they qualify then ignore the suggestion.

That's a strong indication that this is just the glitch du jour, sent to anybody that offers MM for anything.

Somebody at San Jose Junior High is going to get a D- on their computer homework assignment.

Re: What in tarnation are they talking about?!?

I got the same email but I have a different take on it.    I think that maybe this message was sent out prematurely.  They must know that they have a problem with labels that is automated to start soon.  This message was probably supposed to be sent out after the label problem started so that they appear to be 'working' on the problem.

If that sounds a bit crazy, keep in mind that this is eBay, and they don't always do things in a straightforward way.

I figure this means that eBay has done some more tinkering just before the holidays and they're going to screw up media mail again.  So when you try to print a label for a book that qualifies it's going to tell you that it doesn't qualify.

Look for a new glitch coming down the pipeline, and be ready to use alternate methods of producing labels for your packages.

Re: What in tarnation are they talking about?!?

They must have taken a double dose of Dumbass today. ALL the items they said I have wrong are by definition MEDIA! I rechecked the USPS Web Site to make sure my item meant the MM standards. I did have some items that I HAD to ship First Class because eBay would not let me print a Media Mail Label. The Survey does not work and the contact us link takes me to the pointless help pages.

I have received items from sellers that were shipped Media Mail that definitionally should not have been. I tried to file a complaint be there was not a option available to do so.

Now on top of that they have all my listings set for same day shipping. I've had accounts for Years and always set for 3 Day Shipping.

Re: What in tarnation are they talking about?!?

Hello! It appears this email was sent with incorrect categories and/or listings. Given the USPS determines the eligibility of items that may be shipped using Media Mail - the email was intended to provide a heads up of sorts, for any sellers that may have been offering it incorrectly. We're not blocking any new/additional categories though, and you can expect to receive a corrected email soon. Thanks!

Velvet,

Re: What in tarnation are they talking about?!?

They seem to have already changed all my listings to Economy Shipping, whatever that is meant to be. I cant imagine its going to do us any favors.

@mrootes1

The terms "economy" and "media" shipping refer to the same thing.

Re: What in tarnation are they talking about?!?

They are trying to dictate by restricting access to Media Mail shipping labels for certain categories. Not that there isn't a workaround, but it's them trying to force the issue (I assume because dumbass sellers will try anything to keep prices down to email competitive, like offer to ship computer parts by Media).

The main page of a listing always just says the general type of shipping (Expedited, Standard, Economy).  You have to click on the shipping tab to see which exact service(s) are offered.
