I sold an item to someone at the end of September and promptly mailed it to them. It was brand new, never used, still in the box. They immediately, upon receiving it, claimed it was defective and rudely demanded a refund. I accepted the return and waited patiently for them to send the item back before refunding their money. They never sent the item back, and on October 2nd, opened a case against me for their refund. I contacted Ebay, who found in my favor and closed the case. I was also told I would be allowed to keep the funds, since the buyer never returned the item to me. However, my Paypal account, which showed the funds in hold, now show they've been refunded by Ebay to the buyer. I contacted Ebay again and was told to wait 24-48 hours before the funds posted. It's been 48 hours and still no funds. I feel like I got ripped off. The buyer basically scammed me out of a brand new item and the money I received for the item. If Ebay is telling me I'm allowed to keep the funds because this was not my fault and the buyer refused to return item, then why haven't I received them, and why does Paypal show the funds as being sent back to the buyer? That doesn't seem fair at all to me, the seller. Should I continue to harass Ebay? Should I call Paypal? I don't know what to do.
