I bid on several items the past two days from china that had free shipping ,But when I went to pay there was a high shipping charge added. Went back to original listing and rechecked and free shipping was listed, On further investigation at the pay for your item page if you scroll down there is two boxes, one box is free shipping, the other box is high end shipping. , The high end shipping is automatically checked. to get the free shipping you must click on the box free shipping. It is hidden out of sight at the bottom, you will have to scroll down to see it.

Good point.
Yep, as a buyer it is important to pay attention to the details.
You would be surprised how many buyers do not read period, so kudos to you for paying attention and catching this!

brian@ebay Is this another page redesign? A lot of the "new, improved" pages have way too much empty wasted space moving options and checkboxes off out of view at normal resolutions.
How would the seller pick a default shipping option? I've always seen the lowest cost be the default, not the most expensive.

Hi @mersupplyeb! My understanding is that shipping should default to the primary shipping method, which is the one displayed on the listing. In this case it sounds like the free shipping option should have been the default. I'd like to get a few more details from you and pass this along to the right team. I'll send you an email shortly!

The practice is believed to result in increased profitibility for the seller
& considered as selling smart.
In my opinion it should be prohibited.

Not sure how that would work?
If one is suggesting that a seller, forces a higher cost (faster) shipping method onto the check out andthen ships via the slower method - THAT would be fraud and is a violation of eBay policies. So if a buyer purchases a faster shipping method the seller must ship using that method.
Report any cases of violation of this to eBay. I'd guess seller gets a ding and buyer gets a refund of shipping costs.

Called the sellers on this. One free ship item didnt even have the option to up grade , They just stuck a shipping charge on it. Told them to keep it. As a seller I would get burnd if I tried this.
