I ordered a package and it was originally expected to get here on December 17th, however there was an error at the post office and the package was sent to California instead of Virginia. Yesterday the package came up as missent which I know means that they recognize there was a problem and are trying to correct it however I’m hoping that my package with arrive before Christmas. Does anyone have any idea how long it would take for a package to get from Los Angeles to Richmond?

It may arrive by Monday, but there's no guarantee. I ship coast to coast and sometimes they cross the US in 3 days or under.

If sent as Priority mail it will travel a great deal faster than If this mail article happens to be parcel select or media mail.
Really depends how soon someone gets around to getting it onto the path to Richmond

I've seen a few "missent" packages in the past, and they generally get corrected pretty quick, given that when it's scanned as "missent," they've already seen the problem and are acting on it. Your biggest chokepoint now is the sheer quantity of other mail in the way. I would check the tracking again on Sunday and see where it's surfaced by then. (You can also sign yourself up for email or text alerts on the tracking results page for your package on usps.com, so you'll get pinged for any or all future scans of the item as they occur.)
