Void label after item was intercepted from post office

I had a buyer who asked to cancel order after I dropped it off at post office. He stated wrong address. I jumped in car and went to post office to see if I can get it back. I did. Clerk scanned package and gave me receipt with “reversed” on it. Online tracking shows post office in possession of item (but they not).

so now I have headache about cancelling and recovering shipping which wasn’t cheap…

is shipping recovery possible in this instance (label purchased through Ebay. If not then I will process partial refund I think.

You have 5 days to void a label you created online. Go to your shipping labels section and see if you can still do it.

The second issue is the status. If the status doesn't change, most likely the void/refund request will be denied. This is why it takes so long to get a refund because they want to ensure that the label is not in transit and the item is in possession of the post office.

You will know in 21 days...

If the label was already scanned accepted before you got it back, you can not get credit for the label.  You can however charge the buyer for the cost of reshipping it.

But buyer was sneaky and purchased another same  item before cancelling (cheaper shipping —I didn’t notice ). I think I will refund partial stating that if ebay gives me money back I will refund the cost of label

Did you try to void the label on ebay?

I did. It is resolved. I called Ebay and explained the situation and they issued me credit. I was very pleased with customer service this time.

after I requested void i received message from ebay stating  if package was not scanned they will issue refund in 2 weeks. But in my case package was scanned so I wasn’t sure if I will receive the refund for that label. It is not common situation. But what is important is to take some receipt from post office for proof that package was given back. As you can see , tracking still shows package is in postal possession but it is not.

Glad you got it corrected, in the future, IMO, buyer is eating that cost (if and when feasible thru EBay's processes).

I sometimes so wish we had the ability to invoice or handle certain things ourselves through the platform, even if there was the condition that both seller & buyer have to sign off on it freely, 100% agreeing to it...but I know it would be abused. I know some buyers think or expect it to work this way already...i feel that some WANT it to be that way (buyers, not just sellers)

PP and such are alternatives but it would be nice if it was all handled 100% thru EBay. Again, Ik, abuse.

Side note... good that you took that photo of the receipt, too. Sometimes highlighter makes the print disappear...
