Usps package pick up question

Hi, 

Can anyone please tell me if when you you have usps collect packages from your home address if you receive any proof of pick up?

I have an order for which the tracking is showing as ‘label created and usps awaiting receipt of item’. Due to closer inspection of this sellers reviews and the communications I’ve had with them, I’m very much doubting the package has actually been shipped. So I’m wondering if usps would provide the sender with some sort of proof of pick up?

All of my home pickups are simply scanned into the USPS system by my carrier... no other 'proof of pickup'.

Edit: the USPS tracking system gets 'behind' sometimes... maybe the scans just aren't in the system yet.

If the package gets scanned, it will show as "picked up" when you view the tracking. However, whether or not a package actually gets scanned depends on the postal employee. It's not unusual for a package to make it from the east coast to the west coast without ever being scanned at all (especially during the holidays).

Many sellers have major issues with getting their packages scanned by USPS at pick-up and drop-off, so I would suggest giving it some time to process. Fortunately, you're covered by ebay's MBG, so if you don't receive your item by the estimated delivery date, you can file an item not received case.

When USPS picks up my packages, they are scanned and it shows on tracking as "picked up" with the date/time.  If the individual mail carrier doesn't scan a package, it should receive a scan when it reaches the first USPS station for sorting, etc. 

In the past, I have had some packages that never got scanned, but were delivered to the buyers just fine.   Just keep watching the tracking and give it some time.  Most sellers do want to deliver on their sales.  It's rare that a scammer is the one selling!

Since I busted up my knee I've had packages picked up several times a week.  They usually show "picked up at 12:34pm" on the tracking info.  I also get an email 2-3 days later saying "your pick up request was completed at date/time"
