I thought for sure you could use bubble mailers by weight, now the shipping module askes for weight and dimensions... If this is true how do you measure a bubble mailers dimensions, by the bump?

When I was selling and used poly mailers, I just put in the ‘dimensions’ space...8x8x8”.
That way, the size comes within the allowable limits.
You don’t need to actually measure those envelopes.

As chino said, it really doesn't matter what you enter. USPS has official limits for First Class packages, but I don't know whether they're included in eBay's calculator: "does not exceed 22 inches in length, or 18 inches in width, or 15 inches in thickness."

If you want to be dead accurate, then yes, envelope thickness would be measured at its thickest part. I always give 1" as the thickness as my padded-envelope shipments are always around about there.

Yes the thickest part.

2/15/20 I just got an instant paypal debit charge for " Ebay ship fee" that didn't appear anywhere in my seller account fees and didn't match any shipping labels that I had paid for immefiately from my paypal ballance. I use a lot of bubble mailers for small first class items. I think I didn't bother to enter any dimensions in the shipping calculator - just the weight a few times this month (since the USPS. rate change to dimensional shipping ). Upon asking Ebay for an explanation about the mystery billing- the rep said that I had several rate adjustment charges and gave me the Pitney Bowes number for more information. So yup. It looks like some numbers now definitely have to be entered into the shipping calculator even for mailers.
