Hi,
I sold a laptop but picked the wrong shipping label on eBay. I chose a flat rate envelope on eBay, which was way too small for the laptop. I asked the USPS employee what I should do, and she told me to use a medium flat rate box and buy new postage. So, I wrote the buyer's address on that box and paid for new postage. She told me that since she didn't scan my eBay shipping label that I could get money back on it (I paid about $8 on it).
1. How do I get my money refunded for the eBay label since I didn't have to use it?
2. Should I tell the seller what the new tracking number is?
3. Will this mess up any part of the process for eBay? Would I have to tell the buyer that he has to mark the package as delivered when it arrives?

1) Go to your eBay Labels page and select to 'Void' the label. It takes 2-3 weeks, but you'll get a credit.
2) Yes... load the correct tracking number into the transaction. Message buyer if you want to.
3) By using a new tracking number, USPS will automatically mark it as 'Delivered' when it does.

You can void an unused eBay postage label up to 5 days after purchase.

It is not possible for the buyer to mark the package as "Delivered." You have to enter the new tracking number in the transaction on eBay.
