I keep getting this message when I click the return button. Whats even more bizarre is this notification comes up on the Hongkong ebay in Kanji. ""You cannot submit a return for this item on eBay. We are unable to process a return request for this item because the item was not purchased on the US eBay website. Please contact the seller directly to return the product or see if you are eligible for eBay refund protection""
I've never had trouble with returns, usually its very simple.

I see you're registered in Japan. On which eBay site do you think you purchased the item? Do you think you purchased in on ebay.com? Or did you purchase it on ebay.com.hk? Where was the seller located? Where was the item located?
Could you perhaps post a screenshot of the item details--making sure to delete/hide the same of the seller or any other identifying information that would lead to the name of the seller. (It's against the discussion board rules to name other members.)

Your buyer protection depends on the site that YOU were logged into at time of purchase. (Not the seller's home site).
If you were logged into .hk when you purchased, it is .hk's rules for returns that must be followed and you must log in to the same site that you purchased on.
Did you purchase on .com or .hk?

Thanks for clarifying that, @penguins_dont_fly. My reply was a bit misleading at best.

Just an additional note.
If you can't remember which site you were on at time of purchase, an easy way to figure it out is to look at the payment.
If the invoice was in HKD, you were on .hk
If the invoice was in USD, you were on .com

Thanks for the help. I didn't or have never logged into any other site. I will ask the seller about the return. I have never encountered this problem before.

I’m not sure if that is always the case. If I am on .ca and put an item in my cart that was listed on .com, the total is shown in $US when I go to checkout. I think (but am not certain) that it would also show up as $US in my purchase history since that was the original listing currency.
