This has now happened twice so here I am to ask about it. Customer buys 2 items from me and pays separately for them despite my advice to use the shopping cart. I used to be able to go to bulk shipping and the option to Combine was enabled. Now it is greyed out. i know from experience that ebay recently changed something and now will not allow you to enter the same tracking number for multiple items even if they are purchased same day from the same buyer going to the same address. So that workaround will not work.
Is there a way around this?

This is what I found. But I am using Managed Payments and it doesn't address my situation.

And this happened before I was on Managed Payments too. I think that covers it now.

Your customer probably used 2 different Paypal accounts to pay which will have 2 different email address. Ebay won't allow you to use the same tracking # because of this but Paypal will.

I am on managed payments so this does not show in my paypal account.

You can combine shipping IF it is the same customer shipping to the same address. However, sometimes a customer will make a purchase and then make a separate purchase using guest accounts ... same customer with the same address, but it looks like two separate accounts made the purchase, and eBay will not let you merge together for combined shipping. If this is the case, there is no way around this.

The last time i tried that it didnt work. it gave an error about the tracking number already having been used, something to that effect.

And for some reason that worked this time. i was able to add the tracking number to the 2nd item. i absolutely could not do that the last time. i tried multiple times over different days. Glad it worked this time.

Interesting. I had this happen a few days ago and I blamed the failure on waiting an hour by mistake before copying the tracking number to the second item. Maybe it's an intermittent problem.

Ebay hosed me on this this morning, paid an extra 9 bucks and had to ship two empty envelopes. it is a problem with Their System, good luck getting them to admit it or take responsibility. Ive been selling for over 10 years many thousands of transactions.

You didn't have to ship anything just cancel the label. If you use a scan form make sure you cancel the label before creating it. The label will not be included on that days form. The new bulk shipping tool makes this easy.

my main point is there is something wrong with the ebay software that is not allowing it to combine orders. I have wasted countless hours on similar issues with ebay only to have them waste my time and never admit to, or resolve the problem. the brain trust that can fix these problems is not their customer service people that is for sure. hopefully someone with the expertise within ebay will fix this bug soon. Yes your fix may have worked. I unchecked the extra combined items from my bulk order but the program billed and printed the duplicate labels anyway. also if you read some of the other posts the tracking info was not combining manually either, so I would have been dinged by ebay for late shipment if I hadn't shipped the printed labels so they could be scanned and uploaded by USPS.

Cancel the labels.....DONE!
