USPS tracking shows delivered in my mailbox today but not there.

Bad enough that mail rarely arrives before 6pm. Tracking says it was delivered at 6:10 but it's not in my mailbox. Did get a few other pieces though. Just a $20 item that would fit in a small padded envelope but this is a tool I need on a repair I can't finish without it. Is this just my word against the mailman? I'll call the P.O. in the morning if that might help.

@atikovi

I once had it where the mailman delivered my stuff to a neighbor. I called the PO, and they went searching for it. I'd definitely try calling them.

It might get delivered tomorrow. Its possible the carrier scanned his packages "delivered" prematurely and yours fell out in the jeep and he didn't see it--that actually happened to me once 🙂

The PO can tell you where it was when the carrier scanned it "delivered" so I would definitely call them OR go down in person tomorrow if its not in tomorrows mail. Good luck!

Does tracking, if any, on the few other pieces show 6:10, or a different time?

No tracking on the others, just regular mail.

Called the P.O. after 10 tries with a busy signal and the supervisor asked the carrier. Carrier said he may have left it in the wrong box and will come out and check. Not sure what he can check as most people bring in their mail every day. I doub't he will knock on every door on the street to ask for it. Will see.

I had the exact same thing happen almost two weeks ago, still haven't gotten my package.  Now I don't know what to do.  I want my money back but I don't want the seller penalized (by giving me a refund) for the mail carrier's mistake.  Mine was a $13 item so no insurance.  I contacted the post office and their response was basically "it's marked delivered, it could be lost, sorry."  I let the seller know and he said to let him know if the package ever shows up.  Is there anything I can do?

I apologize if this isn't allowed and I should have started a new thread.  I'm new around here and this made more sense.

It came the next day and I was waiting at the mail box for the carrier. Turns out the seller got the address on the label off by a digit. Low cost item but in retrospect, think it's pretty stupid for Ebay to have raised the threshold on signature confirmation from $200 to $700.

The only one who will be penalized is you. Your buyer protection through eBay and pypal ended when the package was marked as delivered. Forget about the seller, you need to work with the carrier and track down your package. The sellers responsibility has ended.

It was $250 - now its $750. But thats the required level for seller protection. Otherwise you are alwasys free to ask your seller to add it to your shipment for you so that they have to get you to sign for it and cant just leave it outside - but expect to pay $2.45 extra to the sseller so he can add that to the label.

I don't like how tracking only shows it was delivered to a zip code. Would be nice if the full address was available. I imagine somebody could come up with a tracking chip that you could drop in the box and it could be located by GPS.

This happens occasionally. We've been doing online sales for many years and this will occur, not often but often enough that it doesn't surpise us any more.
