So, some months ago we probably all noticed that USPS "downsized" their scanning so that we can no longer see most "legs" of packages' travels, and I for one think the reason is pretty obvious (why reveal when a package is doing whackadoodle loop-de-loops all over the place?). And of course things slow way down in December, but this year really takes the cake, not just in slowness but scanning.
First let me clarify that I KNOW there is no guarantee of 2-3 day delivery with Priority, although I'm still waiting for any legit answer to the question of what "priority" means, when I often see First Class travel just as fast if not faster. But in case it matters for any reason, the 3 packages I'm about to describe were/are all Priority.
1. A package took 9 days to be delivered and the customer was already spooked by the 5th or 6th day. He wrote to me clearly freaked out, and I tried to assure him that even though the last scan showed the package still in my town, it really was moving toward him. Still, he opened an 'Item not received' ticket a day or two later, but fortuantely Ebay was sensible and closed it when the package showed as delievered.
2. Another package took 7 days and never showed a delivery scan!--The only way I knew was the customer emailing to say how delighted he was with the item, THANK GOD, because it was a $475 one-of-a-kind item.
3. A package I shipped last week along with a couple others is not showing ANY scans at all, still "pre-shipment." I just emailed the customer with hopeful assurances, and begged them to keep me informed if the package does or doesn't arrive.
