USPS scan form manifest is making a mess!

I recently started using the bulk shipping manifest / bulk shipping form per my local post office request. I can print the labels, print the scan form, and get the form scanned at the post office - no problem. The problem is that several packages included in the "one bar code" manifest sheet do not show up as being in the possession of USPS. If I go to the individual tracking for a particular package, it shows "USPS awaits item", even 3-4 days later after USPS has had it for those 3-4 days. So I went to my local post office and ask why. Of course I was told it was a "bug". The nice lady ask for my receipt for the 5/3/2022 scan form. I gave it to her. Then she was unable to find the acceptance bar code number in the USPS tracking system for the number showing on my receipt. Wow - imagine that. She said to not worry, the packages "should get there". So now ebay sees the packages incorrectly as not being shipped and they still show up in my "awaiting shipment" even though USPS has had them for several days. Now the false late shipments are showing up in my seller evaluation. Anyone else having trouble with the bulk shipping feature, which is supposed to improve the "seller experience"? So far, my experience ain't so good. Thanks

USPS scan form manifest is making a mess!

I don't have any answers, but I just tried using the SCAN form for the first time ever & that's what happened with mine.  I only used it with 2 pkgs cuz I wanted to test it.   Even weirder, my carrier said he couldn't get it to work (though I think it actually worked), so he scanned them manually.  So there were 3 entries, 1-the typical one you get when you print a label, 2 - the scan from my carrier that said "picked up" & then AFTER that, the same scan that you got from the SCAN sheet, which could be really confusing to a buyer, b/c it shows picked up, then looks like it's awaiting pickup, so ambiguous at best.

So, you're not alone, but I have no solution.  Mine was a test & my carrier is ok with continuing our non-SCAN sheet status quo, for now.

Thanks for your reply!

Yep, it's confusing, and now for some reason my post has been changed to "read-only". I sure would like some feedback from other sellers!!

It's only read only on the Sellers board.   It's been moved to the Shipping board by the mods b/c it's about shipping.  People CAN reply to it here (I did), so you'll probably get more responses.

The most likely reason the lady couldn't get it work is that she did not select the correct type of scan from the menu. The menu item for the SCAN form is different from the menu item for scanning labels individually.

"read-only" is new to me. I have other posts and they do not have that note. What is the reason??

I was wondering how a couple of people actually posted since I see "read-only".

Oh well..... thanks

It's just weird wording.  It's read only on the Sellers board, where you originally posted it.  It is NOT read only on the Shipping board, which is here, where they moved it to.

Thanks I'll let him know.  He told me there was a software update last month & changes to their menus, but they never trained them on the changes LOL.  He's a long time, experienced carrier & a smart guy, so I wasn't sure what was up.

There are two things happening when you do a scan sheet.

1) when the scan sheet is used there is an update of sorts by the PO.  According to eBay this is the same as an acceptance scan for your metrics.

2) the scan sheet provides only a recognition of items, not an acceptance scan by the PO.  The next scan "proves" the PO has received the item.  That scan may take place in a variety of places, depending on your regional postal scanning.  Sometimes it will be leaving for the sorting center (from your PO), arrival at the sorting center, leaving the sorting center, or any other scan down the line.

My particular PO does not scan anything put out in the mailbox, dropped in the slot for the automated teller, or any pack leaving the PO.  The first scan you get is at the sorting center, scanning as if it's the PO.  Then 20 minutes or so later, it's received at the sorting center.  During the holiday season, the first scan would be 'departing the sorting center'

The window supervisor had asked me to use the scan sheet.  I did.  After such inconsistent scanning, I went back to the old way.  He took it well when I explained that the folks down the line weren't doing their job and scanning.  (I guess he had heard it before).  The only way I know to get an acceptance scan is to hand it over the counter and have the clerk do it.   ----Note, this is not a particular Post Office situation, I have tried 3 in the same region and all scan the same way.  It may have something to do with a huge population increase and no increase in space or staff.

Major problems. Think I’m going back to having them scan each one. Usually it is the  bigger or odd shape packages. I had one about a month ago that showed nothing ever abd I had  to refund. Right now I have 2 expensive packages that have not been scanned.  Very frustrating.
