to contact the buyer first thing tomorrow. Do I just go ahead and refund then or ask for two more days to see if tracking updates? I opened up a case 5 days ago and I am sure that will close with no actual resolution.
Does anyone think that because I didn't hear from the buyer it has somehow made it? The package traveled from NY to Alabama but the last scan in AL was still an hour away from the destination. I have had at least 6 packages that have seemed to be lost. I have two left missing including this one. The others did turn up, but I am losing confidence in these two first class packages making it by Christmas or at all.
Luckily this is not a high priced item and I certainly would prefer to refund then risk a negative rating. However, if I do to the order and hit full refund I will still be getting a defect.
Thanks very much!

It may be the buyer is patient, understands the USPS situation, and is waiting.
I ordered an item from an ebay seller that was sent and arrived to my town in good time but tracking shows it out for delivery for four days now including one day when the package was bumped to another town for a day after it was here. I am hoping it will be delivered Monday.
If you refund the buyer they will probably still get their package later so if you refund them, consider the refund a gift to them as they are not obligated to refund you,
just my opinion

No. Don't contact the buyer and give them any ideas. Shipping is running slow. Just sit tight and see if tracking shows delivered. It could have already been delivered and never scanned as such. Trust my, buyers get very yippy so there is NO chance you would not hear if they don't receive it.

Thank you. Yes, it is certainly possible the buyer is being patient. I have mostly been waiting for the buyers to reach out and then thanking them for their patience, explaining the situation, etc. However, at times I have been reaching out first when the time has come. I think I will give it another day then reach out and ask for another day or two to see. This is not a Christmas item specifically but could still be a gift. I hate disappointing people but I did everything I could and ship same day or next day. If I end up refunding and it still comes I definitely understand it is a gift and will just be thrilled if I don't get any negative feedback so these issues!

Why would you refund on a package that is about to get delivered???
What a nice calm buyer who didnt open a case. Now be a nice calm seller and let the package get delivered.

Well, I see your point. I am not trying to rush. It has been "almost there" for ten days with no scan since. Almost doesn't count right? I am hoping the package just gets going again but most of my seemingly lost package did start moving again by this point.

OR
It could already be in the buyer's hands. The carrier may not have scanned it delivered, or the scan may not have gone through.
There's no real way to know.

package mailed first class 3-5 days on nov. 22nd delivered dec.18th
stop selling ebay is allowing INR cases to be opened against the seller.
also did anyone notice the USPS raised there rate in oct. not jan. to make more $$$ off the covid-xmas and are completely dropping the ball now!!!!! just like ebay
usps in not scanning packages??? (covid-xmas) ebay has
Estimated delivery dates ....why.... ebay dose not ship anything and all shippers USPS/FEDX/UPS are saying they have heavy delays with shipment.
buyers are opening item not received cases and there's no tracking info to upload.
so i guess ebay will refund the buyer and my business loses inventory and sales $$$ bad thing is buyer will most likely receive the package
than ebay want sellers to let them manage payments (((give ebay my bank info and ss number REALLY

Thank you for your reply. I agree it is extremely frustrating. The only ones really losing from all this are the sellers and some buyers - certainly not eBay or USPS.

Yes, it is possible that one of my packages may have gotten delivered. However, the track record lately has been if I suspect a package is in limbo it really has been because it ultimately got scanned still in transit. One package made it from my local post office to another in my state and never got even close to it's destination in Texas. The one stuck in AL is more frustrating b/c it got so close. However, without a scan super close to the destination I am inclined to think it is prob. stuck not delivered. Anything is possible, just trying to do the right thing by the buyers and myself. For now, waiting it out a bit longer. I realize many, many others are dealing with this with much higher volume sales and higher prices. Again, I appreciate your feedback!

I'm a seller in the outskirts of Birmingham, AL and I can tell you my local post office is crippled right now. Mail is only being delivered once or twice a week because drivers are being asked to help sort packages. I have packages that I dropped off at the post office on 12/6 that have yet to receive their first scan. So you definitely may want to give it a little longer.

Thank you for sharing your experience in the AL area. While not a good thing, it's good to know. Best of luck to you as well!
