USPS getting brutal with packages

We sell a lot of fragile items so we pack super well, my girl who does all the packing learned from a high end store and she does a great job you can just look at all our feed backs and see the comments that are left for the packing jobs she has done. In the last month we have had 3 items break which is very rare so I asked 2 people one at the post office and one that works in a distribution center if they have heard about a increase in breakage. Both responded with a absolute yes and have said that the new Postmaster General DeJoy has made a lot of people unhappy  and also said that there are people there who back him in trying to make people think that using mail in voting is unsafe and they are beating the **bleep** out of packages, envelopes ect. So I have shifted more to Fedex whenever I can make the cost work out. I did see the note from ebay saying we should seek alternative shipping due to the issues with USPS. I thought it was just delay issues but it's more than that so I suggest to over pack well when shipping USPS.

Just today I got a message from a buyer stating the items in the box were intact, but the box had been beat to dickens.  I triple wrap my items before placing them in the USPS Priority Mail box.

I filled in for my neighbor for a couple weeks at the post office locally and I was amazed at the treatment of the packages......reminded me of dodge-ball.......

My goodness! You sound like a Crybaby!

Stop trying to make it political.

Why don't you ship everything FedEx?

If you don't like the USPS, then don't ship that way!........

I have had more breakage with USPS in the last 2 weeks than the last 2 years combined.  What is going on?  I’m afraid to look at my phone for fear of another notice.  I honestly can’t keep selling if this continues.

Sorry you're having these issues with your packages.

I have to say I've no complaints with USPS. Packages are being delivered to midwest and west coast in 3-4 days (from here in Florida) and to VA, GA and points north in 2-3 days.  All's well with me and USPS.  Love it!

Yep a horrible pick that was planned from the start I believe and most Americans I believe know the score. I hope this whole thing backfires in you know who’s face.

The problem is twofold.

Not enough people vote.  And people do not do their homework, they would rather believe what comes out of the mans mouth  (incidently the man has been known in his own circle as Don the Con for 5 decades).

Everyone should read Stuart Stevens book It Was A Lie.  The man has been heading up Repulican campaigns since the 70's. He points out the tactics used to get their candidates elected.  Tactics that backfired when you know who came along. They campaigned against other legitimate candidates thinking that no one would take him seriously knocking each other out of the race and too late realizing that their anti science, anti education paved the way. He added anti mainstream media and blitzed  with the propaganda networks like Fox News, Breigtbart and Info War's. The main stream Republicans mostly all caved and publicly backed him no matter their feelings privately to stay in the circle of power which is really all most of them care about. It is a facinating read from someone that pretty much helped create this mess.

I agree letter sorting machines have nothing to do with packages, The issue is the horrible moral caused by DeJoy who owns stock in companies who compete with the postal service and makes a lot of money by degrading the Postal service. My carrier said his overtime has been slashed but has been given a larger route he said he has to drive 55 mph on 30 mph roads just to get done in the day. This just does not make for happy employees.

Friday the Postmaster came to us rural carriers and said they now want to know how many miles of paved roads we have in our routes. I replied "Well maintained paved roads or do I include those that look like they belong in a third world country"

Seriously though this week it's been so dry that if I drive with any speed at all I have to wait at each mailbox for the cloud of dust to settle enough for me to see the road again. Most of my hair is a white grey, by the end of the route I look like a blond.

Yes I'm sure it goes both ways, DeJoy is now under another investigation, what a horrible pick for the Postmaster General, as usual no vetting.

And now it looks like we will be saddled with another sycophant on the Supreme Court like Kavanagh taking the seat of the late Great RBG.

Could be they are tossing them more to keep their Covid-19  distance.

To be honest most of the lighter packages are tossed to the carts. This is not to be rough. they have already been through the sorting machines and they WITH ALL CARRIERS get flipped, crowded, and dropped into bins during that sorting. By the time we get them if they were going to be damaged they already are.

This clip is from China but they are all pretty much the same.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVmnPMS7Z_0

If some USPS employees are beating the  bleep out of packages, it's more likely because they're upset at the  reduced hours and are trying to get back at DeJoy so that he will take the heat for all the delays and reduced service at the USPS.

This is doubtful. most of us KNOW it is only going to hurt use, the little guy. After all DeJoy even if he loses his job he is already worth millions  he would be just fine.

I have had this happen to me off and on for about a year. Ebay Double charges me for USPS breaking my items. I loose money .And Now when I file a claim with USPS. They will not pay off the claims. Right Now, I'm owed somewhere in the Neighborhood of about $600.00 in Claims with the USPS. ebay does not care what happens on your end, as long as they keep feeing you. And Charging you for someone elses Blunder or Carelessness...not to mention, ebay charging you an additional $20.00 for each item that arrive broken and the buyer claims it is not as described... I have actually caught my postal  person throwing my items in the truck.

One thing I have noticed that a lot of sellers don't seem to realize is that if you leave any voids in the package, it's liable to get crushed in. The crane game app I win most of my prizes from used to just put the prizes in the box with no padding to fill in the empty spaces, and very often the boxes would arrive with great big dents in them due to those empty spaces. They've started filling the voids with crumpled paper now, and despite the fact that the boxes seem to be getting much rougher handling in general with the courier system they're using than they did with USPS, I'm not seeing those great big dents that they used to get.
