Hi, i won an auction for a used lens on dec 11th, payed using credit card. The item was checked in the local postal office on Dec 12, in a 3 day express shipping, it arrived on Dec 17, 2 days after the date expected, i already finished my visit to the US and the hotel staff refused the package and is being sent back to the sender.
Should USPS cover the costs of an international shipping to argentina, so i can still get my package? it was 100% their fault and now im stuck in a huge credit card mess
should i open a case in ebay? i already clicked the option "return to seller"
thanks!

Of course not.
Assuming your package was shipped Priority mail, that is not a guaranteed service. Even if you used USPS express which is guaranteed the best you would get is your shipping cost refunded if it didn't arrive on time.
I would reach out to your seller and explain the situation and ask that they issue you a refund once the item is returned to them (which might take quite a while). I wouldn't expect the seller to refund original shipping either unless Express mail was used and it was delivered late. Technically the refusal of the package voids your eBay buyer protection although there are other ways to deal with that if the seller won't refund anything upon return of the item.

Its not 100% USPS fault and there is absolutely NO way they will foot the bill when it comes to shipping the item to Argentina. Green-nights response is 100% spot on but in addition to what they said, you are the one who chose to buy an item that was ESTIMATED to arrive 2 days before you left. You took a huge risk and lost. You were not guaranteed to receive the item before you left.

You'll probaby be refunded when the seller receives the returned package. They might deduct original shipping and/or a restocking fee.
