Hello and hope everyone is doing well. I wanted to make all Ebayers aware that the Post Master General decided that all facilities should co-mingle First Class Parcels with Priority Mail Parcels. Basically mixing small packages that weigh under a pound with those in excess of 80 lbs. You can probably imagine the outcome of what is going to happen to a lot of sellers First Class Parcels, they will be crushed when the 2 classes are tossed into the same receptacle. Not sure what the resolution is other than to message them either through email or facebook in hopes that they rescind the new directive. Ebayers cannot pay to insure every single package that is mailed out or refund buyers upon receiving their purchased item damaged @ links to members

The maximum weight allowed for USPS packages is 70 pounds.

If you use sturdy boxes and package items properly it shouldn't be an issue.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if several thousand paper items in stiff pasteboard mailers were crushed every day.

Can someone post a link?

Hi, don't have a link. Just thought I would share with the Ebay community since I am employed there. Saw the process done for the first time today. Another Ebayer commented that the max. weight was 60 lbs. That would be incorrect. We currently ship and deliver 80 lb. boxes of dog food and cat liter. A lot of items will be destroyed regardless of whether they are in a small box or padded envelope. Most smaller boxes have a crush resistance ranging from 25 to 30 lbs. of force.

I see - no wonder I was having trouble finding a link to some sort of announcement. Thank you for sharing the info.
I'm surprised you have 80 lb packages going through your facility because every single published USPS document I've ever seen has said the weight limit is 70 lb.

Hi, you are definitely correct on the posted restrictions. The restrictions have become very flexible with Amazon items. Actually delivered an 8 ft. in length car bumper a few weeks ago. Well over maximum size.

Well it might be a bad thing but not as bad as UPS dropping washing machines in boxes on top of a small box of crystal glass.

Thanks very much for posting that. It's definitely going to mean some changes in the way certain things need to be packaged.

Wondering if you've seen much of an impact from this at your facility @scott-stephanie?
