I'm reading in the Media that President Biden has ordered most Guvmnt offices and services
closed for President Carter's funeral Thursday the 9th.
I don't see any notice on the USPS website, as yet.
Any word? speculation? conjecture?

You guys and your politics, this post really isnt even about that. What I want to know is if eBay will be expecting us to ship that day. My carrier already told me they are not going to be working and there will be no mail pick up.

If not announced on eBay, you will know a couple of days before as that day will (might or might not be) not be available to select as a shipping day when you look at the time of purchasing a shipping label.
sometimes eBay gets it, sometimes they do not. Without months of notice to prep code.......... it could go either way. There is a history of actual known Holidays (that occur every year) not being coded for "no USPS labels"
of course, standard procedure is for eBay to announce "after the fact" when they miss a closed day, they will assure everyone that it will not be counted against them, but likely it will still show in the metrics, and take some time to be corrected, if at all

Hi @haute_desert_deals . eBay will factor it in as a non-business day just like they did last time. No need to worry about shipping on Jan 9.
Of course you can ship that date with UPS/FedEx, but you will not be required to.

They've probably had a 100% staff turnover since the last time, so I'm skeptical about the programmers getting it right this time. I'd play it safe and adjust my handling time temporarily.

The National Day of Observance for Former President Jimmy Carter on Thursday, January 9 is a public holiday andd is not considered a working day for shipping and will not be included in estimated delivery date calculations. USPS hasalso announced that the Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on Thursday, January 9.

It's absurd that you think it's absurd, since it's done for every president after his death.

Confirming for those who were skeptical or who still have questions:
Jan 9th was programmed as a holiday just as Elizabeth said it would be.
Orders with 2 biz day handling placed today, Jan 7th, are correctly showing ship by dates of Jan 10th.
Shipping label purchase page skips Jan 9th when selecting shipping date.
Current shipping team has been great about this stuff. 👍
