USPS awaiting item

Hello, I want to ask about USPS. I bought sth from ebay to europe and the seller used USPS. Yesterday the seller created the label and the status says USPS awaiting item. The seller says that the package was picked by USPS yesterday from mailbox and it is normal that they did not scan it and it will get scan when it gets to the hub. The package still did not arrive to the hub and the status is the same. Is it normal, should I worry? Sorry but I do not know how it works in the USA. In Europe packages are picked up and go the post office and then send to the hub. Thanks

Yes, it is normal. No, you should not worry.

If for any reason the package does not arrive by the estimated delivery date you'll have 30 days to file a non-receipt claim.

Thank you and how long does it take to arrive to the hub? I was thinking that maybe the usps would get to the hub the same day when they picked it up.

Packages do not always get a scan when they arrive at the hub..  It will get a scan eventually.

And that is something the baffles me😐

I know that it apparently does happen, but how does a USPS package that arrives at a hub get routed to where it is supposed to go if it is not "scanned" 🤔

It runs along the processing line where it gets shoved into a tub/gurney/cage bound for the next destination.

How is that possible without "scanning" ?  Scan the "addy" and not the barcode ?

Time was, or at least I thought it was, that the "barcode" was key to getting it to the zip that it was destined for.

--------------------

Obviously a misconception on my part as time was that the barcoded #, for small offices, came on a roll of stickers that was attached to the package without that # ever being entered into the system.

That doesn't matter. All that matters is the estimated delivery date shown on your order. Could take 2 days or 2 weeks to get to the hub. Depends on the seller's location, the shipping service, whether the package is going through a facility facing delays, weather, etc.

Once it gets to the hub it may be processed in 2 days or 2 weeks or longer. Like I said: none of that matters.

All that matters is the estimated delivery date range on your order details page.

But I really care about the item that I bought 😔 So it can take 2 days to 2 weeks to get new status?

USPS is experiencing various issues across the US right now, and only some of it is weather related, though they are still only blaming weather, rather than acknowledging their own internal issues as well.

Unfortunately, yes, it can take 2 days to 2 weeks to get a new status update.

I miss my once dependable and timely USPS. I hope it's not gone forever.

No need to panic. USPS scanning can be unreliable. It is usually scanned, if not a drop off or pick up, when it goes through a hub on the way to its destination (in this case, the EIS facility.) It will be scanned once it arrives at the EIS facility, if not sooner (that scan is reliable.)

I usually have packages scanned into the system on pick up. I have also had packages scanned right in front of me not appear in the system for a day or two. I have no idea why this happens, but it does happen once in a great while.

"I was thinking that maybe the usps would get to the hub the same day when they picked it up. "

The eBay international shipping hub for shipments going to Europe is in the state of Illinois; so, unless the seller lives in a nearby state, it may take a week or two to be shipped from the seller's state to the Illinois international shipping hub.

Mail service in the United States is not as swift as you may have been led to believe -- and getting worse!

For some reason when dropped off at the counter  they  don't  always get   acceptance   scan  and set in PO  for  2 to 14  days    for some reason  which baffle's  me .   then  wired  unexplained delay's and  bouncing around  ground advantage  shipping   and  Priority mail  same thing  depending  on the sorting hub .
