Well, they sent one of mine from CA to AZ by way of Richmond VA. Stopped in Phoenix both ways.

things are tough all over.I do a lot of international first class shipping by USPS
Norway was dropped from the edelcon program for being not up to par with tracking scans.
Italy was dropped from the program last year.
in order to stay in the program these countries have to do enough scanning or they get dropped.
that leaves me with no tracking or I go wth EISD

It would almost be comical, except USPS is always saying they need more money. We need to raise rates again and again. Why not try to improve your efficiency?? Had a package delivered today that had been lost in the USA for 10 days, mailed 2 weeks ago. Could it be possible that mail efficiency was better 50 years ago than today? Still would rather use USPS than FedEx or UPS, however.

Over the past year the USPS has been managing to make the delivery of my town water/trash bill a 2 weeks+ delivery affair. There was also a 7 weeks to travel 22 miles doctor bill.
In the local paper a few years ago there was a story about someone sending their next door neighbor an Xmas card. The husband had passed away and the wife knew nothing about the card until it showed up 26 years (seriously) after the postmark. That begs the question of how and where did that card linger for all of those years.

I relied on USPS for our stuff for many years using Priority Mail which was absolutely excellent until Mr Joyful took over. Now, No ship with them unless I have to with a PO BOX address and insured to the max for all of them they are not as efficient as before.

None of this is new. My grandmother's been deceased for something like 20 years and when she and my grandfather went to Florida each winter she would mail things back and forth with my mother and they would remark how the postmarks and routes the things took never seemed to be the same each time. Now he passed on over 30 years ago, so that puts the mailing stuff close to 40.
I've had packages do crazy stuff before Dejoy was in, one that should have gone north then west went south, west, north, then east to me in a big circle. They make mistakes. It's not a high skills required type of job, you learn as you go. Some learn the skills to perform it well, some do not.

More years ago than I care to admit, I had the chance to see exactly how the outbound packages get sorted just before they were handed over to the airlines for transport.
Trust me - if you could see it, the question wouldn't be "how could this have gone astray?", but rather "how does anything get where it's supposed to go?".
It's an interesting process.

Yup - much less to process I guess, I am with friskya, I too have been to a PSC in AU and how in he!! more doesn't go astray is beyond me, it looked like total chaos, but somehow it works (for the most part)
For all the complaints we see (and I have been known to make as well) the reality is in AU the successful delivery rate is up to around 97%, so not bad.
