USPS Signature Confirmation ?

Does anyone know if the USPS or FedEx are still allowing their carriers to sign when signature confirmation is purchased?  I have a recent delivery sent Priority Sign Conf showing delivery today to Las Cruces NM.  The signature entry data shows COVID C45 and the recipient is stating they did not receive it. I would suspect COVID is what the carriers were told to enter to bypass obtaining a real signature and C45 is the city carrier route number. What a mess this %$#!% Covid continues to cause. Hope I was allowed to swear in upper case numeric/special characters. If not, you won't be reading this post in either event. 🙂

The last package i received just a couple weeks ago that needed a signature, i didn't have to sign.

He knocked on the door, put the package down and stepped off the porch and waited for me to come to the door, he did something with his scanner, waved and left.
