USPS Shipping Delays

Hi All,

Hope all of you continue to be safe and healthy.

Since new the postmaster general implemented his new policies, are you guys experiencing more issues with your USPS packages?  I'm noticing some of my orders are stuck at my buyer's local distribution center or it goes to my buyers local USPS but then back to the distribution center.  I have several orders that haven't been updated for 5 days or more.  

I've opened several missing mail searches without any success.  Do any of you have any tips in how to navigate this?

  @Anonymous Is ebay going to extend USPS eta times?  I'm concerned I'll have several INR's on my service metrics that's out of my control.  Is there a way to appeal them as long as I shipped the item out within my advertised handling time?

I would not necessarily blame USPS for the slowdowns we are encountering.  They have a new Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, who has stated his intent to cut costs across the board at the Postal Service.  Unfortunately, the first line of attack was to reduce overtime and sub carriers, and allow things to sit longer at stations rather than being moved along in a timely way.  Strange how whenever an organization intends to cut costs, the first things that go are the actual working personnel.  My opinion is that this was politically motivated.

We are experiencing the same problems now, packages that were shipped back in mid July are not being delivered or scanned further past a distribution center. We have 2 cases open against us for nondelivery, we filed cases with USPS, they called to explain on one of them about the major delays and no one working in these fulfillment centers. This is going to be really bad if more cases materialize. Now all the money from those orders is frozen and no seller protection.

I just wish that you ebay, would require a customer to make contact with the seller first, so things could be explained, before being allowed to just open a case against the seller. This is really affecting business.

What makes me mad is when you talk to ebay they tell you use a different service! But thats not what the buyer paid for, if this gets that bad then usps should just be removed from buyshipping, and none of us want that to happen being the more price friendly option if you will. If they buy a book and choose media mail thats how its going, yet ebay talks like we should pay for express or ups etc out of pocket. I got off on a tangent but anyway point is:

Well, you are certainly entitled to your own opinion: such is a two-way street.

Let's just hope eBay and those alike present themselves front-and-center, there, before the House of Representatives committee on oversight and reform, on September the 17th, to testify about the devastating effect to an already ailing economy, in which was induced from a bonehead decision by Louis Dejoy, the newly instated PMG, who is a multi millionaire and a full-blown surrogate of President Trump, and keep in mind our President of late has been hammering away at the USPS, by saying things like how awful they are, basically implying that the USPS's workforce isn't equipped to handle mail-in voting.

Hummm, kinda strange Dejoy throws the axe down on the USPS's workforce, isn't it?

About packages slowing down.... all I can say is vote in November - I'm taking a chance here but a certain someone in the Oval office whose name starts with a "T" has got to go. But if you like him and you depend on ebay for extra $$ and he gets re-elected there won't be a USPS anymore. Just about every item I have purchased since April 2020 has been delayed. Tracking all screwed up etc...with the exception of a couple of Priority shipments. I just purchased something on ebay & the advertised shipping method was Priority mail. The seller screwed me and shipped it (item that is over $100.00) First class from Washington state to NY. I am pretty angry and wouldn't you know it- the package has been stuck for 3 days (so far) at a Portland Oregon sorting facility. And the fact that we now have a political hack running the USPS isn't helping. I was expecting a refund check from my insurance company in July - I never received it. I called them and they voided it after they saw it was never cashed. This has never happened to me before with regular first class stamped letters. I have to mail my rent money in every month so I wonder what will happen with that!!

Yes got notification from eBay "USPS is experiencing significant delays across their delivery network. Please consider using other carrier options that may provide a better buyer experience."

My friend who works in the USPS office in D.C. for 35 years has told me the President and the new Postmaster are trying to discredit the postal service so people will have no faith in mail in voting. It's just a scam by Republicans to attempt to stop as much voting as possible.

This has helped me in the past: usps.force.com and go to "Where is my package".  And on the tracking make sure to click on text and email updates and do it with different names and if you have a second email use that too. If all that fails call your local post office and ask for a supervisor. Tell them you have a missing package and they need to email the NDC (Network Distribution Center) package inquiry in whichever state it was shipped from. They may hem and haw over your request but remind them it's protocol. And if that fails and if it's something you purchased go to Paypal and get your money back in full. I'm a buyer I have never sold - and I know one thing - being a buyer I want my stuff or I want my money back and I'm not going to wait a month for it.

YES, I have had the same exact situation, lately. I pride myself in getting my packages out, as soon as payment is made. I have three packages right now, that have been sitting at a distribution center for days now. When I first posted the tracking numbers for my customers, messages and red circles came up, stating the delays. I am afraid to sell anymore on ebay. What is going on with the USPS postal service?????
