USPS Recent Shipping Isuue's

Just curious to see if any other Ebay sellers have notice in the last 3 weeks a ramp up of late deliveries and slow tracking updates with the USPS? I've had a major ramp up of packages running 2-3 weeks behind delivery when they should have been delivered in 2 or 3 days. I know there were some storms, but I never have seen this kind off delays with the USPS. I am curious if any of you are having this issue and also if anyone thinks the delays may be coming from the protests and potential strikes within the USPS?

Yes, to delays and no to protests/potential strikes. 

 

This is not a new phenomenon. It is called the USPS which can be similar to the DMV. YMMV

USPS Recent Shipping Isuue's

I dropped off my package at the USPS window on March 12th (I received the acceptance scan). It did not move for 11 days and finally this morning I had an 'en route' scan. I am fortunate to have a patient and understanding buyer.  This caused some anxiety on my part since it was a vintage computer and I do not often sell items like this. I have been reading that perhaps USPS will have more delays going forward due to various reasons (new equipment, new procedures, short staffing). I wish I could realize that this is out of my control.

For the most part I have received excellent shipping performance with very few problems from USPS.  My primary gripe is that my local post office will not answer the phone (short of help?) and will not assist me when I DO have an issue. They tell me that everything has to be done online through USPS. Does anyone else find their site extremely convoluted, confusing and buggy? Customer service has become almost non-existent. My secondary gripe is the frequent rate increases. Have a good week everyone!

Not just the USPS, but also UPS.    UPS has delayed 80% of my shipments....most of which are Next Day Air.   A few they claimed was related to the weather, but others they had no excuse.  

 

USPS screws up on a regular basis, but since they're about 1/2 the price (for what I mostly ship), it's still the best option.  

 

Best to simply add a disclaimer that once you hand it off to the shipper, you will no longer take responsibility.

 

It's tough with the USPS because they don't scan in half the stuff until it gets to it's destination distribution center....so you can't even file a claim because it doesn't show up as ever having been dropped off or collected by the USPS...just that you've printed a label.  

 

You need to weigh the money saved with USPS vs the headaches they cause you.....if it doesn't pencil out, raise all your prices (if free shipping) or simply ship everything UPS or FedEx (I hate FedEx) and charge accordingly.
