In the past, I've had plenty of issues with packages being stuck in the "In Transit to Next Facility" no-man's vortex, but only with First Class packages. Now, I have a USPS Priority, insured, signature requested shipment that was last updated 6 days ago, going from DC to Chicago. The last update was June 14 as "In Transit to Next Facility" and prior to that, it was located in Merrifield VA on June 10.
Anyone else having any delay issues with Priority mail being shipped from East Coast? I've opened up a research case but haven't heard anything back yet. Just worried because this is an expensive item and I dread having to deal with USPS insurance, which has been a nightmare for me in the past. Thanks.

I've had this happen a few times. It was like packages were stuck on a merry-go-round, traveling among several states over and over again, or just sitting for a long time at one facility as you say. It was indeed frustrating!
The act of opening a case has usually led to getting my package moving in the right direction fairly quickly. Remember that Priority Mail does not always get delivered within the stated timeframe. The pandemic may delay shipping time as well.
If I recall correctly, I once or twice had to go back to the USPS website with my case number and let them know that I was still awaiting a response to my case. I believe I also called the Post Office a few times where, according to tracking, a package was stuck. I spoke to an actual employee who got the package moving again
Best of luck to you.

The missing missing claim usually gets the package moving again.
Recently had a priority mail shipment that was over 2 weeks late. It arrived broken, filed an insurance claim and I had my check from the USPS in less than a week. Maybe I've been lucky, but every time I've filed an insurance claim I'm paid quickly.
