Dropped some things off on the post office counter on 12/2. It is now 12/18 and all items still have not had the initial scan. One of which was an $800 item. Customers are **bleep** and worried I’m about to get royally screwed. Any ideas? Talked to the post master twice and they won’t do anything since it’s not scanned in. Another supervisor said it could take weeks to be scanned. How are they able to advertise a “guaranteed by” date, but just take the money and run? Very frustrated. Any suggestions appreciated

Are you tracking through eBay or USPS? USPS sometimes has updated and more accurate information. You can also start a missing mail search at the USPS website.

I always make them scan it at the counter, so it has that initial scan. Stuff is sitting for days at a time now.

I have had this issue with several items I have shipped recently and one that I have yet to receive. When it first occurred I filed an inquiry with the Post Office online. Going to my local post office didn't help, the manager there just told me that "the only way to make sure the Post Office actually receives your mail is to hand it to them". I had dropped it in one of their drop boxes right outside the Post Office!! Gee, that makes me feel really warm and fuzzy about the service they are providing! Turns out my local post office never scanned the item, so no tracking was provided until it was dropped off at my customer's address....since then I have had to make about 6 inquiries, which I think makes them go and find the package and scan it through just to get you off their backs!! I know that my local hub in Phoenix has semi trailers full of mail waiting to get scanned in, it was verified from a local postal employee. I have had items waiting at that depot for up to two weeks to go out and it seems like the only way to get the packages to my customers is to make an inquiry through the USPS website. Hope this helps!

USPS at this time does not go and find your package. Your not gonna believe this but it just happened to get scanned finally. No one gave even an iota to go find it. Your just another customer out of tens of thousands begging for a scan that they have no control over.

I definitely would if it was an $800 item. That's worth standing in line for.

My package sat in the pre-shipment stage for 9 days before it was finally scanned in! Talk about worrisome!
