USPS Postage Adjustment Info

Like many other Sellers, I too have recently begun having Postage Cost Adjustments. eBay has been pilfering funds from my Paypal account - without my authorization - to cover this. Though I suppose somewhere in the fine print, they are allowed to do this.

I've been selling for 10 years and have never had an adjustment until a couple of weeks ago. Most of my adjustments are on Regional "B" boxes. These have a 20lb limit. My product weighs 12 to 16 lbs. I've had at least a dozen adjustments.

I called the USPS number and amazingly got a human after only about 5 minutes.

Here's the deal:

USPS knows they have a glitch in a new automated system they recently rolled out. This glitch mostly affects the various Flat Rate and Regional Boxes. To re-coup the charges we Sellers need to submit a list of affected packages to USPS with the required info, and then they will review it and advise eBay to reverse the charges. eBay will then (supposedly) put the money back in our Paypal account. The problem is supposedly fixed as of March 31st. We'll see.

Here's what bugs me. USPS knew they had a problem. I'm sure eBay was made aware that a problem existed. That did not stop them from taking money from their Sellers. Now all of the onus is on the Sellers to recover these losses.

I feel that eBay's actions on this issue are deplorable and unethical.

It is in the fine print, you are aware of it, yet chose to use the term pilfering for a contractual agreement you made by using eBay labels.

APV system started about 18 months ago, rolled out slowly, and there are the recent glitches, so the 10 years is moot.

You neglected to say what the adjustment was - no one else has reported any adjustments to Reg B boxes that I'm aware of (only SFRB and RegA upcharged to Reg B). Are you saying they are claiming your weight violates RegB l20lb limit and are re-rating them as zoned Priority Mail?

eBay has no choice. Their agreements as a postage provider through Pitney Bowes likely don't allow them to intervene in the established, contracted billing system.

USPS Postage Adjustment Info

This week alone I have received 3 adjustments but they were wrong. 1 said a package weighed 1lb 9oz but it actually weighed 3oz it was for 2 eyebrow pencils, 2 other show the weights being off by 3oz but with the 3oz adjustment it would not increase the cost because it went from 2lb 7oz and they said it was 2lb 10 oz which would cost the same.

They have not fixed the problem at all so now I have to waste time and submit a dispute and wait 15 days for the refund. It's absolutely ridiculous

They still have a problem.  I had over $18 taken out of my PayPal for a 4 oz First Class package that USPS said was 10.9 LBS Priority Mail Item.  REALLY?  I filed an appeal and got a refund a few days later.
