USPS IDC Responsible Areas

Hi!

I am a seller in Japan.

Recently, many delays happens in CHICAGO IL INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER.

I understand Chicago IL IDC is responsible for the IL state. Does somebody knows about other states they are responsible for?

If there is a list of which IDCs are in charge of which states on net, that will be great.

I searched with "USPS international distribution center responsible areas" or something, but not good result.

Thanks in advance.

Not precisely, no. Deliveries going to Midwest states (any direction out from Illinois, such as Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Ohio or Michigan) may come in via Chicago, but it may also be used as a relay hub to other parts of the country, so I don't think you can determine the travel path of your package by its final address.

I also don't think you can control the travel path of your package either, so writing "Please do not ship through Chicago" on the outside of your package will probably not work. ðŸ˜Š

Re: USPS IDC Responsible Areas

Thank you so much for the prompt reply.

So if the USPS system is smart, delaying Chicago IDC should be avoided. But the reality is... It seems better to get back to all by courier mode again.
