I recently sold a watch for $1600 on here and mailed with with signature required via UPS. The buyer directly released the signature request with UPS and the item was delivered to his porch without signature. He then sent me a picture of a box that was torn open and he states it arrived empty. He states he has video footage of the driver delivering a torn box. Now he's filing an item not as described claim stating it came empty. Do I have enough to win a case with the tracking showing the weight the item was received at and the online signature release?

This is going to be a hard one to win. Ebay favors the buyer on cases "item not described." Which is why there is always a risk selling high end items on Ebay. You should reconsider selling anything you hope you don't risk losing. I see you have a very high end watch for sale right now. May want to rethink that.

The current watch is going through Authenticity Guarantee so should be good.
Why did the other one not go to AG? I'm not familiar with that category but it seems high enough value.
I agree you're unlikely to win a NAD claim. But if they actually can provide you with said footage, it might (and it's a big might) help in an insurance claim with UPS.

This will likely be the last time I sell through ebay and I will take that listing down

That one shouldn't be a problem because it goes through the Authenticity Guaranteed program.
I wonder why the other expensive watch wasn't part of AG.
That buyer needs to be reported, @joperucc_0 !

How did you learn that the buyer "released the signature request?"
If that happened, you need to try to get something in writing from UPS that attests to that. You'll need it to fight the claim.

'signature release'...did you ask UPS if a buyer can actually do that?
I would go into a UPS Store and ask a clerk about that....sounds fishy.
Which would be done by buyer online with UPS...would that be in the tracking information as 'delivered to his porch...and no signature needed or whatever?'
I didn't think that was possible with other shippers as well.
'Video footage' means nothing by the way with eBay usually.
I do not see 'signature required' in the item that was sold but maybe I can't find it...

ever since covid ups and fedex have both boinged signature requirements (it may or may not occur even when selected)
with fedex it's supposed to be automatic for anything valued at $500+
ebay requires it for any purchase $750+
not sure with ups I only use them as a very last resort, doing claims with them are a horror story at best.
