Two separate boxes calculated shipping

i’m sure this has been asked before but I couldn’t find the answer with Google so I’m asking myself.

I have a set of speakers they need to be shipped in two separate boxes because they are bulky and 37 pounds each. If I were to use calculated shipping how do I put the dimensions into ebay?

each box is 18 x 18 x 24 and 37 pounds.

Two separate boxes calculated shipping

Alas, the eBay shipping calculator is not able to figure the cost for more than one box.

There are various workarounds, including setting up the shipping calculator for just one box, and then adding an estimated cost for the other box as a handling fee.

If shipped via USPS, your box will be subject to the "dimensional weight" rate and will ship at the postage cost for 47 pounds. Other carriers have their own dimensional formulas.  You might try listing them as "Local pickup only".

Thank you, they haven been local pickup only for a while now and nothing.

Didn't know it's only one box.  I was thinking to have a handling charge of $50 and explain in the listing what it is for

Quick points:

  • Each box will be charged at the 47 pound billable rate:  USPS and FedEx (on eBay) use a divisor of 166 ... UPS will have a higher billable weight because their divisor is 139.
  • These speakers need to be desirable ... if they are ordinary, I doubt you can entice a buyer to pay the huge prices for shipping.

As you've discovered, eBay doesn't handle your situation well.  Really, your best option is to figure out the shipping to each potential zone using your shipping service of choice, and create/use a domestic shipping table - creating these can be a pain for only a single item, and even more so if you've never created one of these tables.

Another option is to set up the listing as shipping with "Freight", and put in some sort of language to your listing telling potential buyers that you can give them a shipping quote.  If they buy it, then you would give them a shipping quote based on their zip.

Really, best is local pick-up ... if they are a desirable item, and you live in a decent population area, then they should sell.
