Trans-Shipper code?

Recently I've noticed several customer addresses that are of the form:

Name

Street Address

<alpha-numeric code, 14 digits?>

State, City, Zip

One of the sales was to Oregon, which is ideal as a trans-shipping depot for Asia (no sales tax). I'm wondering if that is the reason for the code in the address, or is there some other utility for it.

That code is probably the ID of the buyer, so the freight forwarder know who to ship it to.
