Tracking issues

Is anybody else extremely unhappy with this unreliable new eBay tracking system?

All I ever get is tracking number was provided and then it never updates and the item arrives still without any updates in tracking...

Now when I contact sellers to see if they have shipped the item after about 5 days of no change in tracking they always complain about eBay's new tracking system telling me it never updates!

But this is the tracking system they prefer because it is way cheaper....

EBay needs to get this worked out and figure it out because it will prevent a lot of frustrating and worrying whether an item has been shipped or is on its way or not..

eBay does not have a *tracking system*, they reflect the tracking posted online by whatever shipping service was used. Its not always going to be up-to-the-minute, but you can always check it directly yourself if the seller has shared the number. But no matter what, the seller isn't even required to use tracking or to share that information with a buyer; the one and only thing that matters is the last estimated delivery date.

To the best of my knowledge, the tracking on any package is in the hands of the carrier who is delivering the package.

Let's don't blame eBay for things that are not their responsibility.

I haven't used Ebay's but I have used Lettertrackpro.  I think all of this is under USPS Informed Visibility Mail Tracking.   Not the fault of Ebay or Lettertrackpro.  I've tried it 3 times and it doesn't seem to be very reliable.   All three of mine are still showing "Out for Delivery on 8/29/22.  I know for a fact that one of them was delivered on the Saturday, the 27th, because the buyer contacted me to let me know they received it.   Another buyer left feedback showing one of the others had been delivered.  But the report still does not show that anything was delivered.  To add insult to injury, two of mine, weren't even scanned at the local post office until 9 days after I had dropped them off which made them be delivered way past the original estimated delivery date.  Thankfully, these buyers were very understanding and actually left good feedback for me.   I don't think I'm going to use the letter tracking anymore until there are some improvements with it.  It totally stressed me out.   Just taking the chance with 1st class postage seems to better than this.

Perfect example of why it so important to get them scanned when taken to the Post Office, and you get the receipt in hand.....

First class packages come with tracking automatically, but as before, the USPS is the one that provides the tracking itself.

@varebelrose  My local post office won't scan the letters when you drop them off.  I've already asked.  They have to be sent to a local sorting facility to receive the first scan.   I do have my packages scanned when I drop them off though.

@varebelrose   1st class letters do not come with tracking.  1st class parcel does.

You should speak to the postmaster, or go above hie head if still no satisfaction. Scanning upon acceptance is literally part of the service that YOU are paying them to do. Many people here have complained of the same thing; once the right person gets an earful, they will scan your packages.

@varebelrose   It just doesn't happen with the letter size envelopes.  I opened a complaint with USPS over this and they called me yesterday and explained how the Informed Visibility Tracking works.   I did tell them they needed to fix it.  But a lot of local post offices don't have the letter scanners on site.  They are sent to a near by sorting facility.
