When buyers start to ask or complain about the shipping speed or delays, after I reply to them I used to always sign the buyer up (and myself too) for the tracking email updates thru USPS.
How do we do that now that ebay doesn’t show us the buyer’s true email address? What happens if we use their generated blahblahblah@members.ebay.com address for the updates?

I go to USPS tracking and "copy" the info, then go to "contact seller" and paste/send. It has worked good so far!!

And you do this after every scan update the tracking gets? That’s quite a bit of work in order to sidestep the automated process if we had the buyer’s email.
Do you ever get buyers who claim your pasted info is false? After all they are complaining to begin with and likely don’t trust the seller as much by then.

I don't have specific experience with this. It may, however, work as I checked several messages from the same buyer (from different dates) and when I clicked Reply, in all cases ebay's generated email was the same.
You can easily try it if you have two ebay accounts by sending a message from one to the other (if you don't have two, you can easily open another one)

I just tried it. I do have several accounts. I will post here if I get an update from USPS. If I don't return, then there are no updates and the email does not work.

If the buyer used PayPal, you should have receive the PayPal payment conformation email. That email will show you the buyer's PayPal email in the Reply to: section in the header. Mine all do.

I do not send every update on the scan. I usually just send an update when the package actually moves in the system or 2-3 times a week until it arrives. Some packages of mine have had 20-30 scans! Yep, a lot of work if I sent each one.
I also inform buyers with late USPS deliveries that this the new norm for many areas. This seems to help with most buyers. There is always someone who thinks ebay sellers are also the delivery companies. Who knew??
I also let buyers know that they can track the package themselves. Many buyers do not know this is possible and need to be educated. If they will agree to track their own package, I will stop sending updates.
No, I have never had an accusation of false info. If I did, I would just tell them to check the tracking themselves.
They cannot argue with the USPS website!!
Thanks for the reply!!

Yea but I’m thinking ahead when ebay forces MP on me and I won’t know what the buyer’s email is anymore.

Yea let us know. Btw how did you find out your assigned @member.ebay.com address? Does it display somewhere in my account profile or something?
Oh never mind my question. I think I understand... you send ebay messages to each other. Then in the email inbox of one account, you just click reply email (not the yellow reply message button) and the email should show that eBay email address, right?
