Time Sensitive Return, seller dispute

I like a mobile war game I play, and someone was selling a game account with further progress than I had in the game accessories section, so I purchased it. I received the login information, but it didn't work from the get-go. The account login said my device was not recognized as that of the owner. I contacted the seller, and he did something on his end, likely added my phone number on the account. He asked me to give him a code as soon as I receive a text. I did so. A short time later, I was able to log into the account. Within 2-3 minutes, I got another text saying the account was being locked for suspicious activity. The seller told me to push a button in the game that would protect the game contents for 3 days. I did as instructed, and logged out. Now, apparently there are messages saying the account is locked by google due to term violations. In the explanation provided, it says the selling/transfer of accounts is prohibited. I cannot use the game account, and have done nothing with it. The seller is suggesting I make a new account and give him access. He proposes to transfer the game data to a new account, something he's not even sure he can do. I don't feel comfortable doing so, and declined, as this seems to be the nature of the problem, sharing account access.

Currently, I'm seeking a refund and the seller is refusing. The seller is also saying the 3 day "account protection" in game he had me apply is about to expire, and if that expires, it can be attacked (in-game progress is lost). He's accusing me of devaluing the account once that happens. My stance is I can't even access what he got paid for, and have no means to restore something through google that he made/owns. He himself has not contacted google, and my attempts to do so have not been responded to since I'm not the account owner.

Basically, I want my money back for an account that got locked the moment I logged in, apparently because the sale of the account violated google's terms. I received no product. The seller is claiming I was negligent and the account being locked is my fault, and further, claims I am about to devalue/destroy the product by not being able to get in the account before protections expire. It will still be several days before ebay will intervene in my dispute, days after the supposed "damage will be done to the progress." Even though neither of us can get into the seller's video game account. This has been a hassle, and I just want my money back. Any suggestions?

I don't play games and don't know much about the locking outs etc. One thing you need to do, is to file a SNAD case (the product is not as described, does not work).  I don't know how the 'return' works in the digital sales, perhaps, there will be some instruction ebay gives about problems with digital purchases. But the bottom line is file a case for item not as described. In the box where you are supposed do describe the problem, don't mention any of the detail about locking out and all the exchanges with the seller as you may write something that a CS rep may find and use against you, for example that you were actually able to access it, although you got locked out later. Then ebay may blame you that you cased the problem. Just write something like: can't access the game. Seller's solutions do not work.

Also search ebay help what they have to say about digital products and their 'returns'.

When the expected delivery date of the item has passed (as indicated in your purchase history), go the the eBay resolution center and file an "Item Not Received" claim ... easiest thing you'll do all week.

By the way, selling game accounts is most always a violation of the game's terms of use, and also eBay does not allow the selling of such things on this platform.
