I ordered an item from a seller in Germany. Seller had item drop shipped from China. Item was damaged in shipment. Seller wants me to ship it back to China. Seller will not issue a return label or seller address and wants me to ship it back to shipper when the only address I have from the original package is in Chinese. Because this seller is in Germany, shouldn't I be sending it back to the seller of records' address and seller getting it back to China is sellers problem? China shippers don't provide return labels.

There is a thread or two on the forums where ebay reps say that as long as the seller is paying for return postage, they can require the item to be sent back to another location. I'm not sure though how it would work if the return address in the case is different. @Anonymous Would the buyer be covered if they sent a return to a different address that what was on file in the actual listing?
Since international sellers usually cannot access USPS labels so they have to send the money via Paypal before you purchase the postage. You would have to send a package to China with Priority as first class doesn't have delivery confirmation there so perhaps letting the seller know exactly how much they will have to send you for postage might change their mind about sending the item to China.
Hi @pjcdn2005, the buyer is protected if they return their order to any address provided by the Seller or eBay for the return. If the seller is paying for return shipping and would like to have the item delivered to a different location, they are more than welcome to make this decision. Additionally, if a seller buys a label without tracking information, we would only need proof that the buyer shipped the item to protect them.

Seller is out to lunch and/or trying to play you.
Go to the Resolution Center and file a "case" reason - item arrived damaged. Under that selection the SELLER is required to issue a return label, not you. IF seller does not issue a label within the stated time frame, you escalate the case with eBay and eBay refunds your money from the seller's funds.
er, unless you bought off an EU eBay site, where the rules could be different than the USA.

Like I said, the seller is registered in Germany and the shipper is in China. I have seen posts concerning China in regards to not issuing return lables. I am not sure about Germany. If the German seller says to send it to China, I'm ok with that, as long as EBay is ok with that. I'm trying to take it easy on the seller as long as I don't goof my self up for opening a case if things go south. Sellers have it bad enough. But a damaged in shipment issue may not be a seller problem if shipped from a third party. Wouldn't want to zing the seller if I don't have to.
