Yet another item I am waiting on is stuck in SpeedPak limbo. The USPS Shipping Partner says they transferred my package to USPS 12 days ago on March 12, 2021. USPS says they have not yet received the package. Neither party seems willing or able to resolve the issue. The approved USPS shipping partner has terrible customer satisfaction ratings, and is known for its shipping SNAFUs and incorrect tracking info. USPS doesn't fare much better and is known for failing to scan packages into its system upon receipt from the shipping partner. So where is my package? We may never know.
Ebay's SpeedPak appears to be the perfect implementation of confusion, incompetency, inefficiency, and ineptness. The chain of custody seems to be Sender to Orange Connex to USPS Shipping Partner to USPS to Destination. When there is an issue, getting help from this convoluted supply chain is challenging. Also, unlike many other forms of international shipping, there is a disconnect between the SpeedPak tracking number and the USPS tracking number. The USPS does not recognize SpeedPak numbers, and you have to sign up for USPS Informed Delivery in order to locate and track your package after the handoff.
Previously, the long shipping delays I have experienced have largely resulted from my packages sitting for lengthy periods in the distribution centers of USPS shipping partners. Long warehouse delays and bizarre, nonsensical package routing seem to be the most common complaints which cause the universally terrible customer satisfaction ratings for all of the approved USPS shipping partners.
Perhaps my poor experiences with SpeedPak represent the exception to the usual good experience, but I doubt it. A quick web search reveals many many complaints about SpeedPak . What puzzles me is why doesn't Ebay, which is struggling to maintain market share, do something to improve the SpeedPak system? Competing ecommerce giants provide relatively good service through tight control and management of their supply chains. When I am sourcing a product from China, I now generally avoid Ebay sellers who indicate they use SpeedPak. In fact, I try to use sources other than Ebay whenever possible (even if it costs more) due to the shipping issues I have experienced.

And the SpeedPak saga continues!!!
The following tracking history says it all.
If my package did indeed arrive at the USPS in Jackson, Mississippi (which is 80 miles from its destination) on day 9, then it is the USPS which has screwed up and sent my package on a grand tour of the eastern US. If on the other hand, the shipping partner, UPS Mail Innovations, misreported shipping to Jackson and instead actually shipped to Greensboro, NC, then it is UPS-Mail Innovations that has royally screwed up.
We'll never know because the USPS has yet to respond to my inquiries with anything but standard form letters. UPS-Mail Innovation didn't bother to respond to my inquiries at all.

Look at the bright side. I had ordered and paid for 2 different items from the same seller on Ebay. Both were supposedly sent speedpak using a company called orangeconnex.com. The first one was listed as "delivered by USPS" when nothing was delivered. Within 48 hours the tracking on the USPS end nearly doubled in entries, none of which were logical. This included the local post office supposedly "receiving" said item 3 different times on 2 different days. I get nothing, they get the money, and now I have a long fight on my hands to get my money returned from a seller that is no longer on Ebay. And I get to look forward to doing this all over again when the second item fails to be delivered by this shyster company.

So, my parcel finally arrived on March 29, 2021. That package was supposed to contain a radio. What I actually received was a sealed, undisturbed, padded 8 inch x 5 inch envelope that was empty. That's right, I waited 6 weeks to receive an empty envelope from China. To make matters worse, I left work to go retrieve that empty envelope from my mailbox.
I contacted the seller and received the following bizarre response:
Hello,
Thanks for your purchase and concern.
Kindly note that we sent you 2 parcels, one is for a small gift and the other one is for your actual item.
As ebay requests all the shipments to USA should be shipped via Speedpak, however, this item is with electric which
is not allowed to be shipped by Speedpak.
So we shipped a gift with the Speedpak, and your item is with 4PX,the tracking number is (remove for security reasons)
You can track it by the following link:
https://www.17track.net/en#nums=(removed for security reasons)
It is already at your local now,it shows:
2021-03-22 01:32
Memphis,TN, TENDERED FOR DELIVERY
Pls contact with your local USPS and ask them to deliver it ASAP.
Best regards
Indeed, 4PX tracking confirms there is a 2nd package on the way which I hope contains the radio I purchased, but why on earth would the seller send 2 packages all the way from China????
The seller claims Ebay requires them to use SpeedPak shipping, but SpeedPak doesn't allow the shipping of electronic devices. Bull**bleep**!!! I have received multiple electronic devices from China/Hong Kong via SpeedPak. I smell a rat!!! Either the seller doesn't understand the system, or the seller is somehow gaming the system, or I am the victim of a scam.
My problem is that Ebay believes I have received my purchase because it was the empty Speedpak envelope which was tracked by the Ebay system. The 2nd package coming by way of 4PK shipping is completely outside of the Ebay system, and if that 2nd package never arrives it will be difficult for me to resolve the problem.
My only take-away from this fiasco is that from now on I will avoid Ebay and its SpeedPak shipping like the plague. There are too many other e-commerce alternatives which provide better service and fewer headaches!

@dehassell That's the scam. Seller sent you item that shows delivered. That's all they need for ebay to judge in favor of seller. In your case, I hope you have the message from seller using ebay message system so they have proof that seller sent you wrong item (gift). Seller admitted shipping wrong item (gift). I'm going through something similar now. SpeedPak shows delivered. I never received the item. Ebay will most likely side with seller since SpeedPak tracking shows delivered. What I suspect is seller ships low cost item to different address within same zip code to show item is delivered to zip code. That's all ebay requires. It's a shame because I'm an old time ebay user and now ebay is infiltrated with scammers. I stopped selling long ago and I only try to buy from reputable sellers.

It's eBay. Little "e" big "Bay."
You could, at least, get their dumb name right!
As far as Orange Connex, UPS Mail Innovations and USPS go, all can be hit or miss. HOWEVER, when you put them together, you're almost certain to get more misses! That's been my experience. Packages get to USPS in a reasonable time then sit, mysteriously, for days and days. Other times, the package may leave an O-C distribution point and never be heard from again. Or, as with a current package, not be heard from again for 13 days and counting. O-C tells me everything I already know: When it was shipped, how many working days it should take, etc. But, NEVER its current location, never an explanation for the delay and, instead of checking their own website to see there's no mention of it getting to USPS, they give me the USPS tracking number and tell me to check with them! Which I have already done. They treat everyone as if they just fell off a turnip truck. Lowest-common-denominator mentality. NO ability to read between the lines to sense that this just might be the ten-thousandth package I have received instead of the first!

Don't buy from China.
Fraud on every corner.
08-31-2021 04:50 AM
So if there is tracking showing delivery, why not open an item not as described case?
10-02-2021 10:19 AM
I have multiple separate speedpak deliveries that progressed through import customs and then to "Arrived at destination hub, US" and have just been sitting there for a week.
01-02-2022 07:29 PM
the reason it's screwed up is because OC the company that Ebay partnered with to run SpeedPak is a Import Less than container load service they get items through customs from many sellers in bulk and do the mail forwarding in the final country. they generally ship like amazon once the packages get here. I worked for Fedex Smartpost for a bit and they were one of the larger companies to drop in to the feed.

I've had similar experiences. When requested, USPS spends 3 days "tracking" your package then closes the case regardless of its disposition. I was told by my local USPS office which has excellent customer care, that the item
"apparently arrived unreasonably quickly in the US from China."
"The bulk outer package was scanned by customs, but the inner package has not been scanned in the US."
"The bulk package was received by UPS (Not USPS) in Smyrna TN which has been the source of many lost packages. I have several cases on my desk that have gone through Smyrna." Note this is a small rural post office outside Memphis. Several cases of any kind are unusual at this branch.
"The package information was received by USPS, but the package itself has so far not arrived from UPS."
Did it get diverted to a place like this? https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/realestate/neighbors-in-tennessee-city-worry-as-amazon-packages-pile...
It seems likely that a scam is in the works here.
Hypothetically. If a legit Chinese company regularly shipping packages to US in bulk were to include a few extra empty envelopes in each shipment, then as soon as a new order was placed, they could claim that the package is on its way and send the tracking information for the in transit empty envelope. When the outer container is received, it is assumed that all the inner packages are received. This all happens fairly quickly, but since we are expecting long waits from China, we are not able to report it as late to Ebay until long after the trail has grown cold. I noticed that my tracking history and the posted share origin city in China (not unusual) and BENSENVILLE, IL which is quite out of the way for a Chinese package destined for Memphis, a major shipping hub in its own right. The shipper gets to claim that the US carrier lost its package and possibly collect an insurance claim. The customer gets a replacement item or refund as they normally would. In case of a replacement, the customer still pays for the item.
Bottom line, 1 or more individual orders in a bulk shipment result in the 'sender' either getting paid twice for something it eventually sends once, or they get reimbursed for shipping loss of an item which they never actually incurred. Hypothetically.
I didn't receive my item (2)

I have to agree ! SpeedPak should be renamed SnailPak because its so SLOW !
I just ordered a couple of variable speed mini angle grinders off AliExpress at a rock bottom price ! on 4th January 2022 and I've been watching the tracking every day and waiting patiently for them to get here (I'm in the UK BTW), Like you my parcel was stuck somewhere (the Destination hub) for 12 days... Today 19th January 2022 the tracking updated and it seems my item has now cleared customs and is with the local postal service (Royal Mail) for delivery shortly... I am hoping that the box won't be an empty one ! as you got me worried reading about that empty envelope that you received from your Chinese eBay seller !
I'm hoping it'll all work out and there won't be a customs charge as according to AliExpress I have already paid import duty on my order when I paid for it... I'll post back and let you all know what happens next ! lol
