Someone got into my account a few weeks ago and a recent package got sent to their address

I'm just looking to get some advice to figure out how to go about getting my package. On Aug 1st, someone tried to order something off of my account for $595, but it failed to deliver. I had my account reset, found out they logged in from, and I thought everything was ok from there and I didn't think else of it. I recently made an order and for some reason their address was set as the primary. I have proof of the incident in my email alongside the bank notification that it failed, is there any other way to report that to USPS so I can get my package?

Hey @catsuppacket . In this case you'd have to work with the seller on a returned to sender package. Technically speaking, the seller is not required to refund when the buyer submits a bad address at checkout and a package is returned. I understand you were hacked, but you were still shown the address before you hit the pay button.

Having said that, most decent sellers will work with you to either:

- Reship if you pay the shipping costs - you can send the seller funds through Paypal, Venmo or whatever works for you both. Or

-  Seller can refund you less original non-recoverable shipping/fees, relist the item and you can purchase it again.

Hopefully your seller is willing to work all that out.

As for the hacked account:

As a precaution you may want to reset your email password, and also turn on 2FA with your eBay account. https://accounts.ebay.com/acctsec/security-center

I sent them a message a few days ago, but sadly I didn't get a response. I even asked nicely about it, admitted that I was at fault despite the incident, but I guess that's just that and I just have to eat the cost despite winning the bid for the item. I really don't want to drive over 50 miles to try to get my headphones to the person that got into my account in the first place either. I wish I had more to go on from here, but it's just frustrating too that USPS can't just perform an investigation for me or even just take back the package despite having my name on that. I'd even be willing to show them my photo ID as proof, but they just kept pointing me back to Ebay and that was it.

I have reset my passwords for all my credentials just in case and double checked my 2FA. Again, I truly appreciate the advice.

You should run a malware scan on your devices too.  That could be were they are getting your passwords.
